As a replacement. the 348 was introduced and certainly brought Ferrari closer to the 21st century. However. a cabriolet version wasn’t introduced until 1993. The Spider (or spyder) was built in a fairly limited run with only about 1. 00 examples before being replaced in just a few years with the 355. Currently. the 348’s are among the best/least expensive Ferrari values on the market. The current owner purchased this 348 about a year ago…fulfilling a lifetime dream to own a Ferrari. Upon purchase. he employed the help of a very well respected Ferrari service shop here in Southern California (Fast Cars LTD: www. fastcarsltd. com). They went through the entire car and made sure everything was in proper working order. In total. over $10. 00 was invested on the following services: Major belt serviceMajor 30k-mile serviceReline clutch disc/plate and installed new throwout bearingReplaced flywheel bearingsRemoved and cleaned/restored valve covers/replaced gasketsNew cam sealsNew engine mountsNew fuel filtersCooling system flush Also. one of the radiators was replaced and a new Optima battery was installed. Further recent/significant services also include: Major brake system flushNew A/C compressor/flush and service systemNew A/C condenser and fan assemblyBrake pads replaced including parking brake (75% remaining)Rebuilt water pump assemblyClean and overhaul flywheelNuvolari muffler (passes the strict CA smog test) This Spider is in excellent condition and it is clear it was never abused and always well cared for. The paint looks fantastic with minimal signs of use. The wheels are in great shape and wear near-new Bridgestone tires and brake pads. There is an extra set of 19” Trepezzo Racing wheels with new Pirellis available for an additional fee (see pics). These 3-piece custom wheels were purchased from Carobu Engineering at the cost of nearly $5. 00 new (not including tires). The soft top looks great and the rear window is in very good shape as well. There are two very very tiny nicks in the top where it might have rubbed. Each spot is less than a mm in diameter and does not penetrate through or leak. The interior looks equally nice. The leather seats have a nice lightly used look to them with no tears or cracks. The dash is in perfect condition. The carpets and door pockets also look nice and fresh. All the gauges and buttons operate properly. Even the A/C climate control system blows cold and works as it shoudl. For an open sport car. this Ferrari feels surprisingly tight. The steering is very responsive with excellent road feel. The power is smooth. The clutch feels right and the gate shifter operates with ease and no grinding. Unfortunately. the current owner has found that he doesn't have the time to enjoy the car and it mostly sits covered in his garage. California registration is paid through November of 2015. This Ferrari comes with an extra key. owner’s manuals/books. complete leather tool kit. soft top boot. stamped service booklet. car cover. and all the recent service records.
