Description for Fiat 124 Spider 1982
Selling my classic 1982 Fiat 124/2000 Spider roadster!
I have owned the car for about 2 1/2 years and have driven it less than 1000 miles. I purchased it from the previous owner in Georgia and have primarily used it for driving around town with the top down on nice days. I've had my fun with this little classic and now it's time for someone else to enjoy or take to the next level of restoration.
This car has basically good bones from the standpoint of the shape of the body and engine. Minimal rust and overall a sound engine. I tried to show it in the pics, but the car appears to have been rustproofed as you can see by the body plugs where they inserted the protectant etc. In addition, there are some extra parts that will be included such as, belts, gaskets etc. or what looks like a head gasket kit etc. You can email me separately for pics of these.
When the car sits for a prolonged period of time such as over the winter there is some minor smoking from the head gasket area on the initial startup. After the car warms up it seals and it's not a problem from that point on. You can contact me for a cold start video clip as this car has never failed to fire right off on the first or second click, even after months sitting idle such as during the winter.
The car shifts effortlessly through all 5 years and reverse. If you let the car idle in neutral for a prolonged period the thermostat engages perfectly and keeps the engine running at optimal temperature. Even after sitting all winter, there isn't a drop of oil on the floor come spring.
The odometer currently shows *78,450 miles. Idon't believe this to be actual mileage. You can email me for an up to date Car Fax report.
From what I can see the car has been driven less than 10,000 miles in the last10 years.
Included are somegenuine Fiat carpet trim pieces that the previous owner purchased for a full scale restoration. The top is in good shape, but needs a good deep cleaning. I replaced the alternator with a re-built a year after I got the car, but the lights run somewhat dim and the wipers are slow running. These are ongoing glitches with this model, but there are fixes, I'm just not in the frame of mind to take the restoration that far, too many other projects.
As you can see by the photos the interior is in pretty good shape overall. No cracks on the dash, a couple minor tears on the seats, the guages seem to work in good order. The clock runs, but the lens is cloudy and needs replacing.
The car has an aftermarket ANSA exhaust system, not cheap, love the sound!
Bottom line, overall the car is in pretty good shape for it's vintage and ready for a new owner to enjoy it for what it is or take it to the next level of restoration and maximize the growing collector value for this car.
Upon completion of auction, car is available to pick up personally by the buyer or your designated auto carrier.
