Description for Fiat 124 Spider 1979
Hello, here is a 1979 Fiat 124 Spider Pinafarina with a 2.0 Litre in line 4 cylinder that runs excellent. It has less than1000 miles on a rebuilt engine as well as a rebuilt standard transmission. The car has been stripped of paint and was in the process of being restored to original factory condition when the elderly owner fell ill and decided to sell the car. I have been given the opportunity to auction it off, as the man has been a friend for many years. I do personally know the engine runs very strong, and does not smoke or leak anywhere,as I have been in communication since he purchased the car almost 2 years ago, and have witnessed it run several times. It was not an easy decision for him, as he has owned a few of this particular model of Spider, and he absolutely loves them. The body is in outstanding condition, and has never been involved in an accident. As a matter of fact, prior to being purchased, it had sat in the rear of an auto shop for over 18 years. The interior is in blue, and all exterior and trim, as well as the tail light assemblies and otherparts and accessoriescome with the car. I have done some research on the value of the car, and this particular year of spider can bring a rather nice price. There is no body rust on it anywhere. I do know from being around the car and giving it a good look, there are a few things that it will need. The vinyl top has long ago become brittle, but one must expect that from age. The expansion rails for the top are in excellent condition, and open and close perfectly, with no rust or signs of seizing that you sometimes see with old convertibles. The windshield and door glass are absolutely flawless, with no chips, cracks, or even signs of road wear at all. The glass also still have the original Fiat manufacturing stamps impregnated in the windows. The tires are brand new, and have no road time at all, with aluminum alloy wheels. It looks like the rear brakes have been reworked, but the emergency brake cable is not working. It will also need a new master cylinder, as it was removed, but never replaced. It is however, still with the car. Tail lights and all other marker lights are with the car, and are not cracked or flawed. This would be an awesome Father/son project car, or for any Italian car enthusiast for that matter. The dashboard is still in well above average condition and all instrumentation is still in original condition. I am not sure what type of stereo or radio came with this vehicle, but unfortunately thatcomponent is missing. Carpets and seats are in surprisingly nice condition, it has the original Fiat steering wheel, which is in excellent condition and the door panels are still very, very nice, with manual windows. Trunk curtains and carpeting components are still there, but are somewhat brittle. Chrome rear luggage rack is still in very nice condition and grille is still in very good condition. Front and rear bumpers are complete and chrome is still very nice. I am not familiar with this particular car and the seating configurations, but this car does have a rear passenger seat. Hood hinges and trunk lid, as well as the doors function very well with no rust or corrosion and open and close securely. The front brakes will need to be replaced, as the calipers, although with the car, are seized, andthe compression cups inside are frozen. The Odometer reads 93006, but I have my doubts due to the condition of this jewel. In closing, let it be said that this is a very beautiful car that has a huge potential and will take minimal expense in completion. The plus side to this car is that no only is it aVintageItalian Sports Car, but the availability of these have become very limited as the time has gone by and havegenerally become somewhat unaffordable for the average car enthusiast. If you need more photos, message me, and I will provide them. Good luck to all, and thanks for looking.
