Description for Fiat 500 1966

At the 1966 Turin Motor Show, Ferves (acronym for FERrari VEicoli Speciali) introduced the Ranger, a small off road derivative of the Fiat 500 and 600.
There were only 600 units made between 1966 and 1971, and only around 50 have survived. Less than 10 are located in the USA. The Ranger is categorized as a leisure and off-roading vehicle, which, for its construction as well as for its possible uses, distinguishes it from all other Fiat 500 and 600 derivatives.
It has a Fiat 500 steering wheel and 499 cc rear mounted engine, while the suspension and brakes are borrowed from the bigger Fiat 600 model. Other features include a steel beam chassis, detachable roof, removable suicide doors, four vinyl-wrapped seats, anti-slip rubber floor mats, a folding windscreen, and a top speed of 45 mph (72 km/h).
The model offered here was the 10th off the production line (the earliest known Ranger in existence) found with very low mileage -19,912k km still wearing its original Firestone Cavallino Sport tires. First series grills and VDO instruments, used on only the earliest models.
