64 ½ Mustang Convertible with 260 V8, S, B, ower Top, nd AC

I am listing this car for a friend of mine from the Sacramento California area. The current owner has owned this car for 27 years and has given this car all the love and appreciation it deserves over the years. Always garage kept, riven on Sundays. The following information has been provided by the current owner........

Current odometer 84,750 – I have owned for 27 years.

Major and most recent work done:

June 2014, dometer 84,500: Complete new interior professionally done by a mustang restoration company including full set of upholstery, arpet, sill plates, ick panels, ew front seat buns, rm rests, isors and new chrome hardware, ED interior dash lights (I finally can see the dash), ew windshield, new paint, 4 headlight bulb assembly upgrade (2), ew seat belts, ew mirror, ther miscellaneous.

Odometer 83,023: Completer rebuild Power steering pump (kept original core) and replace all power steering lines, eplace valve cover gaskets.

Odometer 79,160: Replaced brake drums, hoes, oses (all four wheels), ear axle seals and bearings, p> Odometer 74,400: Rebuilt steering: strut rod bushings, dle arm and bracket, ie rods, axle seals, ub seals.

Odometer 64,400: Rebuild transmission

The following is a summary by date:

"1997: New upgrade top professionally installed with all weather stripping. I purchased the vehicle in 1988 from a gentleman (in his 60’s) in Sacramento who claimed to have owned the car for about 10 years who was terminal with cancer.

Paint was not in good shape so after a couple years, had the body stripped to bare metal disclosing a small area behind front wheel with some fiber glass. Rocker panels were good. It then went immediately to a paint shop where it was primed and painted, lear coated (1990 or 91). I don’t have that invoice. The car has been garaged for almost the entire time I have owned it except for about a year and a half when it was parked in a carport (still undercover).

So now the rest of the history as disclosed to me by the man I bought it from. I cannot verify anything except will disclose his accounting for the car here. He bought it in about 78 from a guy in the Bay area who had owned it for a couple years or so. That gentleman had (I’m told) purchased it from a woman who had it stored in a garage with the front end disassembled. She told him that she had hit something with the right front end of the car that took out the right front fender and the right front corner of the engine compartment including the radiator, he radiator support (I have confirmed that the radiator support is a 65 instead of a 64), the battery compartment, nd obviously most or all of the grill. The generator, hich is the first thing that would be hit on the engine appears to be the original. The AC compressor which is the first thing on the other side of the engine appears to be the original. I am told that she said she had left the car torn apart for several years after the insurance company paid her and that she couldn't’t find the title so they had to reapply and got a salvage title. If this had happened within the first few years when the car was only worth a few thousand dollars, t could have been totaled by the insurance company and they just let her keep the car. This is a truthful disclosure as made to me.

It makes sense that a woman was the original owner of the car because of the power steering, ower brakes, nd especially the power top. The car was built in San Jose and that would make her the first owner of the car. Whether they Reissued the title as salvage because she couldn't produce the title or whether it is salvage because the insurance company did that, we will probably never know 50 years later. But it has apparently carried this salvage designation since "the transfer from the original owner to the second owner". In summary, bought the car because even 27 years ago, t was the best original, on modified car I could find of the 64 ½ convertible with the early 260 V8 and all power. I had it inspected before I bought it and have since had all kinds of front end work done with no discovery by anyone that there was any steering, uspension, r frame damage to the vehicle.

So there you have it I have owned it for 27 years and have taken perfect care of it, ad everything maintained and repaired as required for all those years along with regular servicing. I never take it out of the garage in bad weather. I have driven it less than a 1000 miles per year for the last several years. It is a pleasure to drive and it gets all the looks, ut it is time to downsize to a smaller house and get rid of my 3 car garage. She has been with me far longer than any of my kids and I’m sure I will miss her when she is gone. But she belongs with someone much younger than me who will take her on drives with their family. She has been good to me, nd I have been good to her. But it is finally time for us to go our separate ways".
