1936 FORD V - 8 PHAETON
Of the nearly 800,000 Fords produced in 1936, ust 5,555 were Deluxe Phaetons.... Henry Fordoutfitted one with hand controls and presented it to President Franklin Roosevelt... The iconic design came at thepinnacle of pre War automobile development.
This California carreceived a complete nut-and-bolt restoration in 1978, arning a First Place in Reno at the National V8 Meet. The car was subsequently sold and taken to Oregon and owned by several collectors in the Northwest. Ipurchased the car in an Estate Sale two years ago. It is believed that the milage of 805 reflects the true milage since the restoration in 78. Observing the condition it is presently in lendscredibility to the information I have in hand... Since bringing the car to Texas, wo years ago, have put exactly 94 miles on the car... a couple local tours, amily country drives, tc... Aside from installing a new battery and fuel pump the car is as it came to me..
Themeticulous quality of the restoration is still evident today. The Washington Blue paint is excellent with a deep shine. The car ishighly optioned with a Ford Radio, ind wings, ith correct Ford logo, ear view mirror with clock, ual windshield wipers, ear mounted spare, uggage rack, ordscript double sidedwide whitewall tires (95%), nd spider hubcaps. Theupholstery is correct and in excellent condition. Chrome and brightwork, n and outside of the car is excellent... The car comes with a convertible boot and full set of side curtains that look like they have never been on the car... A high end California Car cover comes with the vehicle... While it was a number one in 78, would rate the car a strong #2 +.
Mechanically the car runs great.. Parked for 60 days, ull the choke, nd it fires right off... It purrs at idle, hifts smoothly and drives straight and true... The mechanical brakes, ork properly. All lights andgaugesfunction, s does the directional signal that were added along the way... For 1936 Ford made several significant advancements to their venerable V 8 most notably, nsert - style main bearings, omed pistons, larger cooling system and refinements to the transmission, ade all the 36's superior to theirpredecessors.
The car showswonderfully with just 899 miles on the odometer since restoration. It is ready for touring andwith some lightcosmetic detailing can return to the high-point show circuit.
