Description for Ford Fairlane 1970
Here is possibly the lowest mileage 70 Fairlane 2 door hardtop anywhere. This car has been a Tennessee car it whole existence and that means it is extremely rust free. The car was purchased in Crossville, N 9/15/70 by a woman who did not travel very far from home. In 2000 her nephew inherited it upon her passing. He passed away in July 2015. I bought it from the widow. I was told the car always sat in a garage or car port. The mileage is believed to be correct, nd the widow insisted it was. There were no service records wrote down to prove this 100%. There is a tag on the door where the oil was changed in 1978 and it showed 11,000 miles then. I am part owner of a high end auto restoration company in Cookeville, N. I went over this car for 1.5 hours looking at every aspect of it. The car has had one repaint but before the year 2000. I remember this color and I know it faded bad and that would explain why it was resprayed. The paint job is not perfect and has some fish eyes and dust in it and could be cleaned up someby buffing. There are a couple of chips in paint but the car is very presentable. The body is very straight with zero dings or dents. It appears all parts are original to the car except the upper radiator hose and by pass hose on t-stat housing and inner headlights in the grill. The outer headlights bear the FOMOCO script but one is burned out. The heater hoses are original with D0OA part numbers. The factory markings are all in place. I believe the original Ford tune up is still in car. What is so cool about this car is that it has never been tampered with and the new owner will know exactly what they have. I drove the car a few miles and it runs out good. I am selling this car the way I found it for now. This is the way I want to sell it. It needs A/C charged, tune up, rakes rebuilt for safety.
The motor is 302 2-V with automatic. This would be F Code
This car is perfect for entry level low budget weekend cool cruiser car. I could see a new set of Crager SS, ome TA's and sweet sounding Magna Flow dual exhaust.
The only eye sore is that the chrome on the rear bumper has some rust and needs to be replated. There is blue over spray on back of gas tank that needs to be washed off.
The car is 99% rust and rot free. This car is solid. The quarter window seals are dry rotted has are the side glass outside seals.
This is a very easy car to fix how you wanted it.
The front seat has a couple of dirt spots and a 3 inch tear from when I drove it. The rear seat is has new and the rest of the interior is awesome for a 45 year old car. The headliner is perfect except for a couple of spider webs and fuzz from sitting in garage. I peeled back the trunk mat and the trunk is very well preserved. The tank looks new under the mat and logo and manufacturing date on it. All factory decals, arkingsand tags are in place including inspection tagon insidetrunk lid. The owners manual and date of sale paper are still in glove box. It appears it has never been smoked in. The ash tray is clean and no burn marks on cig lighter. There is a yellow factory marking on the windshield in the upper right hand corner. I have never seen that before. The dash is perfect and the only thing wrong with controls is that the old guy put an oven knob on the left hand side of the radio. I had to laugh for whenI first seen it I read Broil, lean Oven. Hey it fits and the radio works well. I found the broke knob in the glove box along with a broke window crank knob that was replaced with a wooded spool.
Under the car there is only surface rust. The pictures show how solid it is. The shocks I am sure are the original Ford units.
To the mechanical type to relive his youth and turn some wrenches on something simple and easy to work on this is it. If you would want the car to be tuned up and serviced with the items I have listed I can run it through the resto shop here in Cookeville after it was purchased so you could drive home safely. If not, ring a trailer. This car and comparable restored Fords can be seen at www.midsr.com to help with your decision to purchase this unit. Nothing else there is for sale has they were past customers cars.
