Description for Ford Torino 1969
This is the last offering this year, ur dry season is just about over and this car will enter a climate controlled storage unit till springtime. NICE SURVIVOR. Considering some of the noted parts needed to be replaced, his caris quite exceptional. The motor is tight upon startup and immediately shuts down when turned off. The heads were set up with hardenedguides for unleaded fuelmany years ago. This motor is very strong and unmolested.Dual exhaust with brand new Thrush mufflers. The transmission shifts with positive authority,no shudder or indication of trouble. It leaks oil when not driven for a while. The rearend is a 9" and just had new seals and rear brakes due to sitting for about 4 yearsunder alienteu under a suspended tarp (see photo). POWER STEERINGworks very nic, Crank windows roll up and down verynicely andall the glass is original "Car Lite"except the windshield, t is PPGand in very nice condition. This car comes with new window felts(new in box)and door rubbers(2 rolls),Not needed yet butwill be there for the nextre-spray.Also have the original Waterpump that was rebuilt and kept in the reman. box from the replacement pump(still installed). The original heat riser is in the trunk because the sparkplug wire boots are straight and not 90s. Trunk is nice with original jack.GT suspension and Front Disc Brakes are in good shape and the car stops good but the pedal is slow to return..I think with some normal driving this will improve. The brake lines were just flushed with synthetic fluid recently. The 4300 carb is correct but don't know if it is original and it is in nice condition + mechanical secondaries work flawlessly.New Fuel Pump.Petronix Ignition under the capwith a performance coil makes for crisp response-this is the only non-OEM feature that I am aware of. Radiator is of copper construction with FoMoCo stamped in the tank ...nice! This car runsgood and with some TLC can bea quick restore.
BODY: Repainted over 30 years ago with acrylic enamel and has 30 years of touch up paint(a canof touch-uppaint come with the car)over a multitude of chips and scrapes and a couple of small non-descript dings, furthermore, there was an attempt to rub the paint with a buffer and the paint is blistered from the mid-line up to the roof. The car shows decent as a survivor should and is not perfect.Drivers door needs anew hinge pin-it is worn.Rust repair behind rear wheels were patched with fiberglass and are quite obvious.Therear window had a tiny short lived leak as indicated on the package tray (very nice tray!)and was removed and resealed then passed a smoke tes, this was about ten years ago. There is some minor surface rust across the underbody including the 9" rearend but don't see any rot or cancer. I think a good cleaning and undercoat is all that is needed- this is a big positive. The biggest negative is the poor fiberglass patches behind the rear wheels that was performed 30+ years ago.The chrome is shiny(did you notice the factory bumper-guards?)and the trim is all there, ome straightening is needed but most is very nice--see photosThe single hood pin is rather unique and not sure if it is a factory thing. ///The headlights are OEM with "Ford" etched on them. INTERIOR: Dash is nice but parts ofthe instrument clusterdoes not light up entirely. Headliner is original and fantastic ! Seats are supple with only 2 minor separations about 2-1/2 inches long and abusted seamon top corner ofthe drivers' backrest. Door panels are nice but the door pulls need replaced. The carpeting is a mystery. I suspect it was cut out because of the heater core leaking but it was valved off to stop it so it may just be a hippies' personal fix for coolant saturated carpet. I've seen alot of hotels in my day but do not reconize this pattern. The 8 track AM/FM stereo appears to be working but the speaker wires were rerouted to theCD player on the tunnel under dash. Nice speakers. Security alarm is all there but not hooked up. On a 1 to 10 the interior is agood 8. Needs carpet, door pulls and minor stitch work on seats....PHOTOS UPON REQUEST
The cars' lifetime has been spent in Az.,Nevada and here in Oregon for about 15 years, kept in a shop until 2009 when it was stored under a suspended tarpoutdoors on a dirt pad.
Final note; This car is quite original and would only need some minor maintainance like shocks, hoses, belts, heater core repaired andAC serviceto travel the states.
The Optima battery is a match to my 69 f-25, o it stays. I will provide a new battery with at least800 CCA. ..or higher if OEM requires it.
