This truck was personally gone through and restored by me. It is not a 30 grand show truck by any means but it is stunning and looks great. Every nut bolt part and piece was either replaced, epaired or salvaged. I tried to keep it as original as possible with the exception of motor upgrades. Because we all love emissions and old crusty EGR valves. All components were refreshed, eplaced cleaned, ainted. I can't begin to tell you that virtually every single aspect of this truck was gone through.
The seat was redone using the original pattern. I did change the color a little. The original seat and door panels were a dark red. The reproduction door panels are lighter so I tried to match as such. Most interior parts were ordered from Dennis carpenter. Most parts in general were ordered from there or LMC truck. Basic hoses, elts and readily available stuff came from the local parts store. Virtually the entire interior is new.
Tons of sanding, atching and welding were done for the body and bed. Some panels in the bed had to be replaced. I made every attempt to paint or seal hidden metal areas, he underside of the bed and cab with a rust preventative paint. Anything I could do to remove and hedge off rust was done. Drip rails were shaved off. The truck was heavily sanded down, e primed and sprayed to factory colors.
Paint is single stage urethane. Silver metallic was a nightmare in single stage. It's nice looking but not perfect. There are a few small blemishes. The body work is not perfectly lazer straight in a few areas. Bed rails are the most noticeable, robably because I know its not perfect. Most people would not even notice.
The frame and all chassis parts were cleaned and painted with chassis saver paint.
All gaskets, eals, eatherstripping, ushings, earings, rakes, rake hardware were all replaced. The rear end was re-shimmed and new bearings installed.
Most exterior trim is original and has been polished. A few pieces were replaced.
The motor has been gone through and several improvements were made:edelbrock 4 bbl carb and matching edelbrock intaketiming chain, ifters and valve springsnew larger camlower bearingsoil pumpI have it dialed in around 20 deg BTC and it runs smoothly.
Negatives about the truck:No spare tire or carrier. I still have the end frame brackets but that's it.The tailgate was a cheep china knock off. It doesn't line up or fit properly, magine that. It appeared to have been slightly bent at a top corner. I still have the original. The a/c does work, ut is a hog on the HP. It really pulls the idle down in stop and go traffic. I had considered adding a retro a/c kit and changing out the compressor to a new style.
