Description for Ford Other 1948

We bought this 1948 8 passenger Woodie Station Wagon 20 years ago.It is completely stock as it came from the factory and has always been well cared for whichaccounts for its wonderful condition. It has the original V-8 engine making it a Super DeLuxe model. The interior is all original as it came from the factory. All but 3 pieces of the lighter colored Maple framing on the rear are original and the darker accent wood is Mahogany. The ribbed steel floor is excellent as the picture shows. There is no bondo type repair anywhere on the car. All of the instruments work properly as does the Wiper motor and the Radio. In 1966 when the car had 55,000 miles, he owner decided to use it only for car shows and tours and Cruise-Ins. He had the engine removed and rebuilt or put into perfect condition and had the Odometer reset to zero at that time. Our experience in the last 20 years attests to the engine being like new. I always had Amsoil full synthetic oil used in it. The Odometer now shows 14,000 miles, f which we put the last 9000 on the car. When the owner died in the 90's, is son advertised this Woodie for sale and we were fortunate to see the ad. We had looked at others, ut none were as complete and original or in the condition of this one. 5 years ago, had the complete Brake system gone through and they have always worked fine including the Parking brake. I intended to continue driving this Woodie as long as I was able as it always attracted attention at shows and Cruise-Ins and often was the only Woodie there. The car has always run cool, ut 4 years ago, chanced to find an NOS original 1948 Radiator still in the Ford cardboard box labeling it as for a 1948 vehicle. Knowing that the original Radiator was over 60 years old, bought the New Radiator thinking that replacing it and the hoses would be a wise thing to do. I am now turning 82 years old and two years ago, ended up in the Intensive Care unit at the hospital. For us, his was a wake up call telling us that we needed to part with things we had spent a life time collecting and need tostart looking for a Retirement facility. Shortly before my hospital adventure, had had the car repainted its original Tucson Tan color and had new Diamond Back Classic White walls on Radials installed even though we had never had a flat tire. Along the way, had various things done or replaced as a precaution such as the mechanical fuel pump and the Starter solenoid and had the Carburetor sent to a specialist who completely rebuilt it. We have driven the car all over the southeastern states and as far south as Key West and have NEVER had a breakdown of any kind. When we first bought the Woodie, knowledgeable old car friend recommended that I have installed an in-line electrical fuel pump with a separate switch which I did. This was good advice, ecause whether it sits for a week or a month, he first thing I do is turn on the electric pump for a few seconds which primes the Carburetor and the car always starts in 3 or 4 seconds reducing wear on the starter and the battery. The car is still 6 volt with a voltage regulator and had been completely trouble free.

NOTICE: I am not the Woodie's owner, ut am a good friend of the elderly owner and am quite familiar with this vehicle. However, ll of the foregoing description and the pictures were provided by the owner. The seller lives near Daytona Beach which has nearby shipping ports should that be a consideration. Any questions I will pass on to the seller to answer. The pictures show the car quite well, ut any prospective bidder is invited to check the car out as to its condition and operation. The vehicle is being sold "as is" with a non-refundable deposit of $2000 to be paid via Pay Pal within 48 hours of the auction end or if bought at the Buy It Now Price. Be aware that Ebay removes the Buy It Now option once the reserve has been met and then the auction continues to its end. The balance of the selling price is to be paid within 14 days of the auction end by Bank Wire Transfer using the information which the seller will provide once the Deposit has been paid. The vehicle may remain in the Seller's garage for 30 days or longer if necessary, ut in any case, t may not be removed from the Seller's property until all funds have cleared.
