Description for Ford Fairlane 1966

1966 Ford Fairlane GTA. This is a true S-code big block Automatic that has just undergone a complete and meticulous nut and bolt restoration. Every component rebuilt, eplaced or restored. Only the best parts and materials used with no expense saved. This car now has 100 miles sincerestorationcompleted and it runs and drives perfect. It is as close to a brand new 1966 GTA as you will find and probably one of the nicest to be found anywhere. This restoration began with a super solid original car that was accident free and had been in storage for over 30 years. It was completely stripped to the shell and soda blasted to bare steel. Very minor rust was removed and repaired in order retain the original body panels. Then followed countless hours of massaging to get the body ready for a slightly different version of the original emberglo paint. The base coat was then followed by 4 coats of clear coat and another 100 hrs of wet sanding and polishing. Underneath and under hood of the car is also done very nice and clean, nd received many hours of attention with multiple coats of sealer and correct black paint. The trunk was also given hours of attention and finished in base/clear coat. All bumpers, ight bezels and any aluminum trim including the grille have now been chrome plated along with the tail panel. All stainless trim has been polished, ven the wiper arms. All light lenses have been restored or replaced, very light bulb in the car is brand new. Nothing was overlooked and as you can see it looks gorgeous. The interior is just as nice and like brand new. It was completely replaced and restored from headliner to carpet in the original Parchment and Black. The dash pad was restored, LL weatherstripping and rubbers are new, ll interior chrome (every knob and handle even the coat hooks) have been re-plated, ll seat covers and door panels are new, nstrument cluster, adio and clock rebuilt, ll wiring gone through and restored, ll internal door mechanisms restored. Everything works perfectly and looks better than original. Right down to the cigar lighter. All glass is original except for a brand new windshield. The interior is breath taking.
Now as for the power train, nfortunately the original 390 had a hole through the side of the block. ( that's why the car sat forever) and the transmission then got sold at some point back in the day.So wanting to do a period correct upgrade I located a nice running original standard bore 460 and matching C6 from a 1968 Lincoln Mark 3. (Factory 365 hp 500 ft/lbs torque) The 460 was then torn down, achined, alanced and blue printed and assembled with brand new HP components. The matching C6 and torque converter were also completely rebuilt with all heavy duty components and a mild shift kit to handle the extra power. After rebuilding or replacing every accessory component, estoring, e-plating and repainting every nut and bolt, his power train was then professionally installed with the correct Crites mounting kit.The drive shaft was custom built 3.5" diameter heavy duty unit keeping the extra torque in mind. The original 9" rear end with 3.25 gears was completely rebuilt and upgraded with a forged posi unit. The exhaust system consists of crites long tube headers coated in black and a Flowmaster header back system with stainless tips designed for the Fairlane.I wanted the power train to appear as a stock 390 hiding in plain sight unless you know what your looking at. This car is the ultimate sleeper, uper smooth, uper fast and surprisingly quiet.
The chassis was also completely rebuilt. Starting with all new bushings, hocks, prings restored, teering box rebuilt, ew steering cylinder and valve, nbsp;new linkage, rakes upgraded with dual master cylinder and front disk brakes. Original 10" rear brakes completely restored with all new brake lines and hoses from front to back. This car was originally equipped with power steering and power brakes and still is. The wheels are the original style that came on the car. They are brand new reproduction 15x7 stamped styled steel wheels wrapped in brand new BFG radial TA's.
Now this is a true S-code car, his identifies the car as having heavier suspension, rakes and body reinforcements to handle a big block from factory. The vin on the door tag, ad cradle and both front inner fenders match. The car is done back to correct colors as per the door tag. I have all the original manuals, eys and a few original receipts for work done on the car back in the early 1970s. I even have the letter from Ford congratulating the new owner. I attempted to remain as true to the car as possible during this restoration. Other than a few period correct upgrades and some modern tires and exhaust I feel it is a very tasteful anddrive-ablerestoration This is truly like a brand new car, t runs drives as good or better than when it came off the factory floor.
Now I have 100% feedback and want to keep it that way. I am a very honest and own a respected Automotive shop. I have restored 90% of this car myself or had a hand in every other step. No one knows this car better than me, o please don't hesitate to ask questions. Even though this car is freshly restored it is not flawless. Anyone can find minor cosmetic imperfections in any restored car. Keep in mind this is a sixty thousand dollar restoration not a one hundred thousand dollar one.
