Description for Ford Ranchero 1972
A time capsule- this unrestored car has original paint, nterior, rivetrain, wheels, nd trim! Crystal clear AM tunes from the Philco. Many factory markings still exist. the firewall, adiator, ylinder head, nd alternator have wax pencil markings. Paint marks can still be seen on the wheels, rivetrain, rame, nd suspension parts. It still has the original valve cover gaskets, s the edges still show blue paint. It still has the original keys with the key tag!History: A rare find, his survivor 1972 Rancherowas originally sold new in Broomfield Colorado. The vehicle spent the first 25 years of it's life with the 1st owners in Colorado until it was sold on August 23rd, 997. At the time of first resale this Ranchero had 35,972 miles on it. The second owner drove it 110 miles north to Cheyenne where the car has remained. In the glove box with the original owners manual is a receipt for the muffler and tailpipe replacement from 1997. (Theheadpipe is still original) A note indicates that the original tires were also replaced that year with it's first set of Goodyear radials that are still on the car today and in amazing condition. I came across this truck at Spradley Barr Ford September this year where the 2nd owner had traded it and 2 other classics for a newer vehicle. The miles when I first drove it was 39,353.
What it needed: When I drove the Ranchero at the dealer it was leaking fuel from the accelerator pump on the carb and soon after, uel was leaking from the original fuel pump. I had the dealership pump all the fuel out of thetank. I replaced the fuel pump, uel filter, nd all rubber fuel lines under the hood. All spark plugs were replaced. I was able to drive in town and on the highway up to 70mph with no problems. Once at my house found the master cylinder had been leaking down thefront of the brake booster and both side rear wheel seals and brake wheel cylinders began leaking. I replaced the master cylinder, ear wheel cylinders, ear brake shoes and flushed the brake lines. I also pulled the booster, leaned and repainted it.I also drained the coolant from the radiator and block, emoved an aftermarket block heater, eplaced the heater hoses, eplaced hose clamps and radiator cap with originals from Macs, nd refilled the system with new coolant.
What has been done before: After going over the car I noticed that the rear springs, hocks, oil, oints, lug wires, nd muffler have beenreplaced at some point before I bought it.
Condition: Overall the car is incredible shape for it's age. It drives and handles like new, lenty of power, hifts are firm.It does have minor body and paint damage as seen in the photos. The most wear/tear is on the inside of the tailgate and it's trim. There is a long thin dent on the drivers door. The passenger fender has a slight buckle in front of the wheel opening. The front valance under the bumper has a few dents. There are small dings and scratches all over. All considered, f you stand back 20 feet most of these imperfections disappear. There is some minor rust thru under the battery area on the lower radiator support. The pinion seal on the rear differential leaves a drip or two after driving, o other leaks. It had a topper on it at some point and where it contacted the cab and bed trim can be seen. many of the scratches were brush touched by the original owner on both the brown and black.
I have done my best to describe this car as accurately as possible, f you have any questions or concerns, SK BEFORE YOU BID! This is a usedvehicle and is being sold as-is.
