Description for Ford Other Pickups 1966
You may wonder if this was "Shelby's Shop Truck", r consider it the "World's Fastest Dump Truck."1966 Ford 3/4 ton Camper Special. Restored 10 years and 5600 miles ago. Two Owners from new.Stroked 390 FE = 416 cu in, uilt right, alanced, orged pistons, V cam, :1 compression, ertronics ignition. Ford factory 3x2s, nd 427 cast iron headers."Built" C-6, ith Gear Vendors overdrive. 4:10 Detroit locker. 2.9 effective gear ratio makes 80+ cruising easy on just the center 2 bbl carburetor. Someone drove it on the California Speedway "averaging the high 90s, n'boutnearto 130".Later model Ford integrated power steering. Early ARA Air conditioning works well. Factory power brakes, nd all the parts to complete a front disc brake conversion are included. New radiator, attery, oses, tc. Rebuilt front suspension. Gary McLean's Rally America built the powdercoated wheels to eliminate the demountable rims, ut allow use of the original hubcaps. Michelins. Factory manuals, luminum 4bbl manifold with carb, riginal seat cover, nd more spares are included. The CrySteel, ade in the USA, ual cylinder hoist was carefully installed under the bed so the body lines remained as Ford built the truck. Spudco-Dave Furtdo's work allows a full size spare tire, nd functional class three hitch to remain in place, hile permitting the dump bed to rise to its full height over the chrome Bronco bumper. We've used the dump bed several times without destroying the paint by putting large appliance boxes into the bed before loading mulch or the trash. The Bob Haver paint job was done with the original colors in Fords standard tutone, ather than the Camper Special design. The deluxe steering wheel, ptional instruments, ippered door pockets, hree seatbelts, dded chrome accents, potlight, nd a radio delete, ainted rather than padded dash add to the ambience, hile Smokey and the March of Dimes remind us of the good ol' days.Telephone Robert on 479 629-5318 to make arrangments to see and drive it in Ft. Smith. If you want details on what all went into the build, sk, nd expect an honest truthfull answerYou will need to come see it before we'll begin negotiations on the price. What we are "in it" is not a realistic consideration.Unknown cost ($75,000 ?) to duplicate it is not a factor.Whatever someone pays for it, t least it won't depreciate like a new truck.
