Nice, olid 1977 Ford F100 Ranger 2wd Flare Side short bed truck. Original color combo of black on black. Has power steering, ower brakes (disk front drums rear) no A/C. Drivetrain consist of a 2000 model 5.0/302, speed manual M5OD transmission and 3.55 gears with traction-lok (posi) in a 8.8 rear. Truck is tagged and insured, drive it at least once a week and my wife and I took it to the Pigeon Forge Rod Run this fall (about a 300 mile round trip and stuck in traffic for 3 hrs) without a single issue. All work done to this truck myself, ll mechanical, ody and paint, as completed about 5 months ago. It wasn't a full frame off restoration (the bed was removed when painted). In my opinion the truck didn't need a full frame off, ust a refresh. I didn't build it to flip and sell, built it to drive and to be a fun little hot rod. I was planning on keeping it but things change.
Body:The body on this truck was very solid to start with. Underneath the frame is solid and strait. Floors, ab mounts, nner fenders and radiator support are rust free, eaning no rust through ever. The bed is original to this truck. It has a buck tag with VIN matching the truck.
When I first got the truck, t had a cheap repaint over the original and had what I believe is called a Freewheeling appearance package. It had gold pinstripe all over the sides in blocked off sections. I stripped the paint down to the original primer and removed all the pinstripe. It had very little rust when I started, ne of the most solid 73-79 trucks I have seen in a long time. The rear fenders had a place rusted at the bottom of each (were the step mounts) and some rust across the bottom of the front bed panel. All of this was cut out and new metal welded in place, he only rust repaired other than on the bed was a place about the size of a quarter on the bottom corner of passenger door. I did replace the driver side door and fender due to a crease down the side were someone had backed into it at one time, ot because of rust. Replacement parts used were original Ford rust free parts from a Arizona truck.I blocked sanded for many hours to get it strait as possible before paint.
Paint:
All primer used was 2K. Paint is single stage Dupont acrylic enamel that was wet sanded and buffed. Shines great when cleaned up and I get compliments on the paint all the time. That said it's not perfect, ook close and you can see places I could have blocked more and some dirt nibs. I would rate the paint a 7 out of 10. Very nice driver in my opinion but I'm picky.
Suspension and brakes:
Suspension is stock other than 2 inch drop shackles in the back to level it out. New rear shocks and newer front shocks, ides good. Brakes are about half on pads and shoes. Has a new master cylinder and stops good. Steering is tight for a 40 year old truck, et go of the wheel at 65mph and she goes strait, oesn't wonder.
Engine and exhaust:
Engine is a 5.0 from a 2000 Ford Explorer. I went through the engine completely, ew rings, earings gaskets, il pump and timing chain. Standard bore and crank is standard so the engine wasn't bad to start with, ust wanted it fresh. Has a 87 Mustang 5.0 HO roller cam with 1.7 Cobra roller rockers. GT40P heads rebuilt with new valves, ild porting and springs for up to .550 lift. Induction is a Edelbrock Performer RPM intake with a Holley 600 vac secondary 4 barrel carburetor. Long tube headers into 2 1/4 duals with H-pipe and 2 chamber mufflers that exit in front of rear wheels with stainless tips. Runs strong and sounds great.
Transmission:
Truck came with a C4 auto. I like changing gears so I put in a M5OD 5 speed overdrive manual from a 89 F150. I'm not sure of the milage on the transmission but I pulled the top cover to inspect it before installing and it looked good inside, ears and syncros looked nice. I've drove it hundreds of miles without a problem other than when cold it feels a little notchy going into third, t's hard to explain, t doesn't grind, ust doesn't feel smooth going in. It gets better when warm. With the overdrive 5th gear at 65mph it's turning about 2200 rpms, t gets around 17mph on the interstate. Has new flywheel clutch and pressure plate. Uses the 89 hydraulic clutch set up and works great!
Rear:
Rear end is a 8.8 out of a 87 F150. It has 3:55 gears and traction lock. It's in great shape, ut of a low milage truck. Has a new chrome cover. It's driven by a aluminum drive shaft with new u joints. Truck came from the factory with a Dana 44 rear and 2.72 gears, o that had to go.
Tires and wheels:
Wheels are new American Racing Torque Thrust, 5 X 8.5 all around. All tires are new Cooper Cobra, 55 60 on front and 275 60 on rear.
Interior:
Has original door panels, arpet and headliner that is in good shape other than showing a little normal wear and tear. Seat was recovered and in excellent condition, lack vinyl with cloth inserts. Dash pad has one little spot. Overall the interior is in good shape and looks very presentable, eat belts are all there and work, ll gauges work, orn blows, ipers work, eater works, ll interior lights work, indows roll up and down. New chrome spoke steering wheel, ord floor mats and Autometer Tach. Has a radio that works but isn't great.
General:
Windshield has some scratches and so does the drivers side door glass. Not horrible but I did plan on having a new windshield installed at some time. That's optional and up to you. No cracks or chips.
The power steering pump whines some but works fine.
All exterior lights work, ven the cargo light. Tail lights are new 50's style F100, ackup lights are small led's in rear panel.
Front bumper is new, ear bumper original and has license plate set back in center.
Tailgate has latches and cables inside for cleaner look. Got rid of the chains and original latches.
Floor of bed is wood, reated and painted 3/4 plywood with original steel straps installed so it looks like boards.
Has new heater core and all hoses.
New water and fuel pump
Truck has no leaks
Never overheats, uns about half way on gauge. Holds great oil pressure.
Grill is original and has had anodized coating removed and polished
I would drive this truck anywhere, t runs and drives great, t's quick for what it is and people love it. I've had several classic Mustangs and this truck gets just as many compliments and thumbs up as any vehicle I've ever owned. It's just a cool old hot rod truck. Overall it's a very nice driver.
Please keep in mind this is a 40 year old truck, ot a new vehicle. I have described it to the best of my knowledge and honestly. If you have questions, lease feel free to ask before bidding. You are welcome to have it inspected or inspect and drive it yourself. I have nothing to hide and want you to be happy with your purchase.
I only take cash! No checks or paypal for the full amount. Truck will not leave until I have cash.
If you have questions or need more pics, lease ask. I'll be glad to help.
