Description for Ford Mustang 1971
RARE 1 of 103 Marti report verified
1971 Mach 1
429 CJ with 4 speed #'s matching (Very rare)
Non ram air (Rare)
35,063 original miles. Engine was removed and brought to a machine shop to rebuild, ut mechanic said engine was so clean it only needed cylinders honed and reused original pistons with new rings.
I purchased car from my former employer, ho was original owner and car was in storage for previous 18 years prior to my purchase in 2004 and still had original paint. When i purchased car 11 years ago, had car stripped down to bare metal and there was a dent in RR quarter panel (chrome trim piece damaged and missing from picture), hich was repaired with minimal filling, nd car was primed with epoxy primer and repainted with correct colors with base coat clear coat. No rust, till has original ziebart undercoating that was purchased at dealer. There was a quarter size rust spot in drivers floor but front drivers side floor pan replaced instead of repairing. The original car paint scheme is upper half is light pewter metallic and bottom half is black but i added the blacked out hood and mach 1 stripes. I have replaced carpet, ew seat covers and changed from 14inch wheels to 15in Magnum 500 but still have original wheels and hubcaps you see in picture. This car is like a time capsule with low miles and no rust with only one repaint.
I would say this car is rated between condition 3 and condition 2 (closer to a 2) and based upon Hagertys valuation tool places value between $37,500 and $63,100.
#2 cars could win a local or regional show. They can be former #1 cars that have been driven or have aged. Seasoned observers will have to look closely for flaws, ut will be able to find some not seen by the general public. The paint, hrome, lass and interior will all appear as excellent. No excessive smoke will be seen on startup, o unusual noises will emanate from the engine compartment. The vehicle will drive as a new car of its era would. The one word description for #2 cars is "excellent."
#3 cars could possess some, ut not all of the issues of a #4 car, ut they will be balanced by other factors such as a fresh paint job or a new, orrect interior. #3 cars drive and run well, ut might have some incorrect parts. These cars are not used for daily transportation but are ready for a long tour without excuses, nd the casual passerby will not find any visual flaws. "Good" is the one word description of a #3 car.
I have taken plenty of pictures but if you need something detailed in pictures better, et me know.
