Description for Ford Mustang 1965

This is a very early 1964 1/2 "Poppy Red" Mustang convertible "D" code. This vehicle has a 4 speed transmission. power top. power steering. Rally Pac and center console. It had major restoration work in 1990. prior to my purchasing it in St. Louis in 1991. It had all new metal installed in areas where needed and was re-painted during that restoration. After moving to Colorado in 1997. I had the engine completely rebuilt along with the engine compartment restored by a local Ford dealership during 1998. Carburetor completely rebuilt. gas tank cleaned and new fuel sending unit installed and then engine re-tuned this year. It runs very well. It has never been used as a daily driver or such. nor was it purchased a "flip" car to quickly buy and sell. This car has been garaged for the past 23 years with a total of 766 miles driven by me. It had original miles of 144. 90 when purchased and now has 145. 656 miles. VIN: 5 F 08 D 127. 00 Door Plate: 76A 3 46 06E 55 1 5 Car is in excellent condition with minor mechanical repairs needed: Several gauges need repair: Rally Pac (Tach not registering. clock works. temp gauge not working). driver side seat out of line; power steering leak; tranny drip leak; slight bent rear shock; original radio not installed but on hand. aftermarket in place; several paint chips on both doors; one small dent. 3" x 3 " x 1/4" on front right fender (see photos); under chassis needs steam cleaning due to new power steering leak; steering wheel not centered on column; aftermarket battery in place. needs correct one and battery holder; The car is rust free and has been garaged since 1991 purchase. Power steering leak just developed when car was taken for inspection in Sept. of 2014 to local Mustang dealer for inspection. It is a beautiful car that needs minor mechanical attention to correct current deficiencies. Tires were installed new in 1996 which will need replacement if car is to be driven other than for show or display. The car was just inspected and driven by the major Mustang Only restoration facility in our area near Denver. Colorado who can attest to the condition of this car. This facility is a logical source for these minor repairs to be completed prior to taking local possession of this vehicle. Their reputation and quality of work is outstanding.
