Description for Ford Fairlane 1956
Nice authentic. non-molested. 1956 Ford Fairlane Crown Victoria with the highly desired stainless steel pillar that spans the roof deck. inside and out. This body style was made by Ford in 1955 and 1956. The 1956 model was Ford's first year for 12-volt electrical system. The tail pipes exit through the rear bumper on the '56. This classic is serial number M6FW203641. manufactured in Dearborn. Michigan on January 18. 1956. New fuel pump. back-up electric fuel pump. front wheel bearings. master cylinder. brake shoes. brake springs. wheel cylinders. series 51 battery. spark plugs. belts. and hoses. Distributor has been converted to electronic ignition. Fresh engine re-paint in original color with correct Thunderbird valve cover decals. The temperature gauge. clock. nbsp;tube radio. heater. and vacumn wipers are not working. everything else does. The engine has 160 degree thermostat and runs cool with no leaks in the cooling system. Ball valves are installed in the engine block on the 2 ports flowing to the heater core. Transmission shifts smoothly. Brakes stop excellent with no pull. This '56 is an older restoration in original factory colors that shows some paint cracks from aging but still beautiful from 6 feet. The car is quite rust free with solid floor and trunk pans. The previous owner said that the car underwent a frame on restoration approximately 18-20 years ago. It did not receive a body off restoration as the body and undercarriage were (and still are) in solid excellent condition. The continental kit (made by Continental Enterprises of Kelowna. British Columbia. Canada) is an aftermarket addition. The tail pipes have been extended to exhaust through the rear bumper. mufflers are Cherry Bomb's. The car has a Pioneer car stereo mounted in the glove box with speakers installed in the front driver and passenger toe kicks. I had this done primarily to play CD's at car shows. The original tube radio remains in the dash keeping the car original. The tires are G78-15 bias ply. Fronts are Denman brand and the rears are Remington brand. The tires have 90% tread depth remaining but are old. They have served me will in going to local car shows here in SW Florida as I don't travel more than 20 miles one way on roads with a 50 MPH speed limit. If you want to travel at interstate speeds. the tires should be replaced. Radial replacement size is 215 75R 15. The tire size that came with the car 58 years ago back in 1956 was 7:10 x 15. The spare in the continental kit is an old 7:10 x 15. Cooker Tire offers a 7:10 x 15 and that would be another option to keep this Ford original whenever mounting new tires. Car fully serviced and ready to cruise. Reproduction owner's manual and shop manual included. Original 1956 dealer brochure included. I bought this car because I wanted one when I was 16 but could not afford. Now that I can afford one. I find myself in a gated community with a 2 car garage and 4 cars. I have enjoyed it much but the parking hastle is wearing on me and its time to let someone else enjoy this classic beauty. Inspections are welcome. I live in Naples. Florida. just 2 miles from exit 111 on Interstate 75. Car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to cancel this listing. Thanks for looking. Dick Reed239-597-8764
