Description for Ford Model T 1925
This 1925 Ford Model T Wide - Track Roadster was owned by 3 members of the DuPont family, rom 1925 to 2015. First purchased by E. Paul DuPont, he founder of DuPont Motor, n Delaware and in 1932 he purchased the Indian Motorcycle company. E. Paul's brother, rancis I. DuPont acquired this car and it became his experimental test car to attempt to invent a "spring-less suspension" that would ride in the same frequency as the expansion joints in the DuPont Highway, nown as America's first highway. For this unsuccessful experiment this car's chassis was shortened.
Next this T Roadster was passed on to E. Paul's son Alexis I., ho is better known as Lex DuPont. Lex shared his father's passion for the automobile. Lex gained fame in the 1950's becoming one of America's winning-est Formula 3 Drivers. Lex continued driving this Model T Roadster from the 40's until the late 1990's and then it had a home in his Colonial Flying Corps Museum, hich was located in Chester County, A.
This Roadster is painted an unusual gray, ccented with red pinstriping, ed wheels and a faded red interior. No rust is apparent due to it's well kept history. The body and chassis are in excellent condition, s the photos show. Even the door closes tight and is perfectly aligned. It has an unusual "Honeycombed" radiator, nstalled by the DuPonts, nd it holds water. The engine runs well, he tires and battery are good. The lights and the horn work, oo. Even the original ignition key and trunk key are with this car, s well as some Delaware State registrations and ration stamps, n the DuPont's name, rom the 1940's.
