Description for Ford Mustang 1968
For sale is a one family owner 1968 Mustang rescued it from a family garage. Car was parked for 21 years. owned by a mom who gave it to her son. Son went off to college about 20 years ago but would regularly come home to wash car. then reparked it back into the garage. This Mustang has the original and recently rebuilt motor. all three VIN tags match (drivers side front fender. engine cowl tag. and window tag). all original and due to bad gas in the tank. I had a machine shop rebuild the entire top half of the engine. I just replaced the gas tank. fuel sending unit. fuel pump. and installed and tuned the new 2 barrel carb this weekend - runs great and can drive on the freeway at 75-80 no problems. Father and son did some patchwork on the bottom of car and it works. but not professional quality. Under carriage is still in solid shape for an almost 50 year car but has some light surface rust at both rear wheel wells. Car was repainted about 20 years ago and is still very presentable. Highlights: One family owned car from Washington DC Currently registered in Virginia with clean title in hand Matching numbers and Rebuilt original 289-V8 engine Rebuilt automatic C6 transmission Approximately 165. 64 original miles VINs match cowl tags. window sticker and fender tags VIN DECODED: 8T01C194827 8 = 1968 T = Metuchen. New Jersey plant 01 = Hardtop Coupe C = 289- 2 valve V8 engine 194827 = 194. 27th Mustang produced in 1968 Brand new Black front and rear seat upholstery Paid over $1. 00 for valve job. rebuilt cylinder head. tune up. spark plugs. distributor cap and rotor. fuel filter. oil changed. spark plugs. wires. hoses etc. other than patched drivers and passenger floorboard as mentioned above. nbsp;rest of undercarriage is in solid condition. Mustang has an automatic transmission and I replaced the bushings on the shifter so it moves up and down solidly. Has aftermarket AC but currently not hook upNOTE: there is a small leak of transmission fluid that is likely due for a new transmission pan gasket. but otherwise shifts and drive perfect. I know car prices are subjective to market demand and supply. but Hagerty and NADA Classics provide a benchmark on what cars are worth. and they are going up. I would put this 68 Mustang in the Hagerty “Above Average” range because of its originality. documented VINs. rebuilt motor. excellent interior. AC. and sought after 289-V8 motor. seeking the right buyer who will appreciate this Mustang’s rich and original one family owned history. It truly is like walking back in a time capsule when you see this car.
