Description for Ford Falcon 1963
1963 Ford Falcon Futura Exterior: The paint on this Falcon is in great shape and is smooth to the touch. All the glass is in good condition with no bubbling and no cracks. The front and rear bumpers have been recently re-chromed and shine as they did when they were new. The front grill was re-chromed a few years ago and still appears new. All of the various emblems on the vehicle (Futura. 260v8. etc. ) have either been re-chromed or are in great condition. The taillight chrome. hood chrome and side moldings are absent any pitting and shine well. The original wheels were replaced with 17 inch billet aluminum and wrapped in a lower profile tire (90% tread) to give this “bird of prey” a better fighting stance. All turn signals and lights work perfectly. Both doors. trunk and hood align well and close solidly. The trunk is in great condition without any rust and has no water damage with a good solid floor. Interior:The interior of this Falcon has been left completely stock. The seat upholstery is in great condition. showing very minimal wear. The back seats look as if they have not been sat in and appear quite new. considering this vehicle is over 50 years old. The dash is impressive and has no splits. cracks or discoloration. The tweed carpet fits well on the floorboard. is very clean and does not show any signs of excessive wear. The headliner fits well and does not sag. Both door panels are in perfect shape with no scratches or tears. The glove box. center console and air vents open and close perfectly with no problem. Engine / Engine compartmentThe original 260 V8 is in great condition and runs perfectly. This Falcon starts the first time. every time and is extremely reliable. It has never run hot and does not smoke at all. even when first started. Under the hood is very clean and there is no evidence of any leaks. The original 2-speed transmission shifts smoothly and does not hesitate upon changing gears. The original exhaust was replaced with 3 chambered “flowmasters”. giving the 260 a noticeable rumble at idle and sounds great when pulling away from a light. The gas tank was just replaced along with a new sending unit. Driving:I have driven this vehicle to a few car shows that were over 300 miles round trip with no problems at all. I would not hesitate one second to drive this car over a thousand miles on a road trip. Considering the age of this vehicle. it is quite reliable. This Falcon tracks perfectly down the road and does not “pull” in either direction. Stopping is not an issue as the brakes work very well and will actually “lock-up” if you try hard enough. There are only a few things that would need attention. if I were to keep it. I am somewhat of a perfectionist and keep my cars as such. This car needs no mechanical work at all. As I mentioned. it is as reliable as a new car. Cosmetically. the chrome stripe on the left and right doors looked like it had some black paint-fill at one time that is now not there. There is a small paint imperfection about the size of a nickel on the driver’s side rear. between the back glass and the left rear quarter panel that is raised about a millimeter. I think it was poor paint preparation. causing the paint in that one section not to adhere to the primer. The chrome around the driver and passenger window would need to be re-chromed as there is evidence of some minor pitting. The passenger side door mechanism sticks once in a while in cold weather. There is a small amount of “play” in the steering wheel that is not more or less than any other car of this age and is by no means dangerous. I have owned this Falcon for about 5 years and it has not seen rain or foul weather during this time. It has lived in a garage while I have had it. and during the 10 years of the previous owner. I take it out once a week or so. wash and wax it. drive it to a car function then put it back in the garage again. It lives a rather dull but pampered life…. I have several spare parts that will come with this car. Chrome valve covers. chrome breather cover. front suspension bushings (got a great deal on them and bought them as “extras”. A few new gaskets here and there and the few other miscellaneous small parts. All in all. this is a great. reliable Falcon. It can be taken back to completely stock with the change of the wheels or can be made an awesome pro-street car with a simple engine swap. I have been to many car shows in my time and I have rarely seen a Falcon in this condition. There are just not that many left in the world……I would be happy to take any additional photos upon request or answer any questions you may have. Thanks for looking……. 01-07-2015-----I have received several messages inquiring if there is a reserve on this auction. There is no reserve however. this car is for sale locally for $25. 00. I will end this auction if it sells at that price. otherwise the highest bidder wins. Thanks for all of your questions.
