DESCRIPTION & HISTORY This restored truck would be perfect for personal use as well as business use in parades and as an advertising vehicle. The current owner has also presented it (along with other Model A and Model T cars in his collection) to school history classes learning about mass production and assembly lines during the second industrial revolution. This truck came from Minot, North Dakota to Omaha, Nebraska sometime in the 1970’s. It was last licensed in 1948 in Minot. It had a box with grain sides and was intended to be used as an advertisement for a farmer’s market. That owner completely disassembled the truck with the intent of restoring it. It was purchased by the current owner in that disassembled state and restored in a frame-up three year project finished in 2010. All body work and painting was performed by a professional body shop. The original wood in the grain box was not usable and was replaced with red oak flooring and red oak stake sides. All have several coats of polyurethane finish. The engine was opened and checked for sound bearings. Valves and seats were ground, valve springs were replaced and the engine runs smoothly. New bushings were installed in the transmission where needed. The magneto magnets were recharged on the bench. The engine runs very well on the magneto; even better than on the battery. The generator is not working. A charged battery and the very good magneto handle all needs for every outing. The original vaporizer carburetor, was replaced with a new Holly NH carburetor. The engine had good compression when restored and was tested again August 18, 2015 at 40 lb. on cylinders 1, 2, and 3 and 45 lbs. on no. 4. The painted wooden spokes were stripped and refinished with polyurethane. All spokes are tight. Tires are new with fewer than 100 miles on them. Outside rear view mirrors were installed in 2015. They are NOS parts dated August, 1974. New kevlar transmission bands. Always stored in a heated garage since restoration. CONDITION Flaws? The paint on the top hinge of the hood is scraped from the hinge action and there is some cracking of the paint on the upper left part of the hood but these areas are inconspicuous (see photos). A full binder of restoration receipts and photos of the restoration will be included with the purchase of the truck so the new owner has the story of how the truck went from forgotten in a cornfield to its gorgeous fully-restored state. We've taken a few representative photos of items from the binder (see photos). DELIVERY When planning delivery of the truck know that the truck is 7 feet 2 inches high to the top of the cab and 16 feet long. It is 7 feet wide mirror to mirror. Of course the mirrors can be removed or folded with the supports removed for shipment and then it is 6 feet 2 inches wide. ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS This is consigned to us by the owner who is the real expert. If you have any questions about the truck, please write and we'll ask Barney for the answers! Restoring old Model A and Model T cars is his passion. If you'd like to see the truck in person during the auction, that can be arranged too, just write with any requests. Barney has invested over $15,000 in restoration on this truck but as you can see in the video at the bottom of this auction, his shop is over-flowing with Model A's and Model T's so he must make room for the next great project!
