Description for Ford F-100 1978
THE STORYI have for auction this very nice 1978 Ford Ranger F-100 XLT. The story goes like this. I have been passing this truck to and from work for just about a year now, and I was tired of watching this truck go to waste in a gentleman's drive way. It took me a few days but I convinced the gentlemen to sell it to me. He told me it was his sisters truck and she purchased it from the original owner in South Carolina. He also said the engine has a small knock when he last started it about two years ago. To me it didn't matter because it was in such great condition, and i wanted to get it to somebody that was willing to put her back on the road. This is a great starter truck for anybody that wants a project, hot rod, rat rod, full restore or what ever. There is minimal rust and the under carriage is in great condition, not to mention its a short bed. After I dragged the truck home I drained all the fuel, cleaned the carb, and she fired right up! So here is what I have found out.
THE GOOD
-minimal rust
-runs and drives
-its all there
-not sure if it works but its an A/C truck
-lights all work
-awesome foundation to start with, not full of rust, bondo and all that crap
-interior is decent
THE BAD
-Its been sitting for 2 years and old cars hate to sit. So you know it all needs to be gone through, fluids grease ect.... So basically she needs love!
-needs a tune up
-brakes are hanging up, (again from sitting)
-like I said the gentleman told me the engine knocks after it warms up, just to be clear. I notice it when I rev it up but sounds like timing or bad gas to me. Not really sure but I want everybody to be in the loop about it.
-not original paint
-has some dings and dents
-the passenger door panel needs to be replaced
I don't want to bash it any more, it is what it is, but if you have questions i will answer them all. Happy Bidding
