Up for sale we have a 1940 Ford Coupe Street Rod. It's a steel body with glass fenders and running boards. This is a well done street rod with an updated drive train, disc brakes, power steering, and yes AC. In the paragraphs to follow we will give a brief description of the exterior, interior, and driveline of the Ford, but first we would like to tell you a little about us.
Smoky Mountain Traders is a classic car dealer in east Tennessee. We are family owned, operated, and own our entire inventory, no consignments, and only deal in muscle cars and vintage auto. You can count on us to have 70 to 80 cars at all times. We don't have a big show room that our customers would otherwise pay for. So, that's how we can sell for less than other dealers. To contact us for more information, pictures, or any questions call our office at (865)988-8088 or visit our SmokyMountainTraders website.
We will start off with the exterior of the Coupe. When you walk around it the body is solid with good fit of the doors and fenders. The body, doors, hood and trunk are steel with the fenders and running boards being fiberglass. This '40 is covered in the two tone Silver and Blue Paint scheme. The paint has a deep rich shine that's slick to the touch. It has great detail in the jams and especially under the hood. The glass is new with the front being changed to a one-piece glass. All the seals are new with new weather stripping. The door handles and trunk handle were removed, and door poppers along with an electric trunk opener were installed. The bumpers were shaved front and rear. When you look at the grill and headlight trim it all looks very good. To finish off the look it is sitting on a set of Chrome Foose Wheels.
Next, we will take a look at the interior of the '40. On the inside it's all done in leather with Bucket Seats and Custom Door Panels. A full console has been added for the Radio, AC Vents, and Power Window Controls. The leather is an all saddle brown with an off white cloth head liner. When you look at the door trim its painted Silver Body Color along with the dash that has the AC controls located at the bottom of it. The gauges have been changed to set of VDO. The tilt column is chrome along with the Banjo Wheel.
Finally, we will take a look at the driveline of the Ford. Under the hood the power comes from a 383 Chevy that's mated to a 700R Overdrive Trans and 10 Bolt Rear End. The engine is dressed with polished aluminum valve covers, breather, and intake. Aluminum Pulleys were installed along with a Polished AC Compressor and Chrome Alternator. The exhaust flows thru shorty headers and duals with Flows. The front end under this Ford is a Heidts Mustang II Style with a Power Rack and Disc Brakes. The booster for the brakes is mounted under the floor to keep the firewall clean. All the brake and fuel lines were replaced along with a new fuel tank.
