Description for Ford Thunderbird 1960
1960 Ford Thunderbird two door hard top. Loaded with great options including 352 Police Interceptor engine and factory air conditioning. Other great options include power seat and power windows.Owned for many years by a central CT family, this car was restored inthe1980s and includes a full binder of pictures showing the extent of the work done. Since then, the car has been used & enjoyed and shows wearcommensuratewith an older restored car. This is not a show piece.
The paint is very nice with chips and flakes in places. The chrome and trim is original and has some pitting but is generally driver quality. The doors open and shut very well and the door jambs are nice but clearly repainted. The glass is nice and all original. There is no rust in the fenders or rockers and some minor older rust repair done when the car was restored.
The interior is in excellent condition and everything works. All of the windows go up and down and all of the heater and accessory controls and switches work as well. The power seat works as do all of the lights and accessories. The car has power steering and brakes to go with the factory air and power seat. The carpeting is faded on the drivers side floor but is in generally good condition aside from the drivers floor.
The dash and seats are excellent. So are the door panels which have no fading or needs of any kind. The roof liner is also original and very nice. The factory AM radio is still inplaceas well.
The engine bay is very clean and has all of its original components including the huge factory compressor for the air conditioning unit. It is nicely cleaned and painted and exhibits no leaks or other issues. Overall, the engine runs very well and has good compression and is quiet and smooth. The transmissionengages well and shifts crisply.
The floors are solid and original sheet metal. The trunk is clean and has its spare and correct jack. I've got the albumshowingthe photos of the older restoration in there as well.
I think I've about covered it. It is stored in Bridgeport CT in a climate controlled garage and is available for inspection and drives any timethroughoutthe auction.
If you are looking for a show car, this is NOT the car to buy unless you plan on spending money to get it there. If you want a fun and reliable driver to take to local cruise ins and show your friends, this is a great choice.
A full safetyinspectionhas been done and any mechanical needs have been attended to. This is a good driving and running car with allaccessoriesworking well.
Thanks for bidding and good luck. Feel free to ask for more pictures and details. I can get within a few hours if there is something you would like to see that I neglected to show.
