Description for Ford Mustang 1966
This 1966 Ford Mustang convertible might be the most universal collector car in the world. Everybody loves an early Mustang ragtop, and when you take this bright yellow one out, you'll find that everyone is your friend and that you're the center of attention everywhere you go. Wearing a cheerful coat of Springtime Yellow, this Mustang is the very essence of warm weather fun. When the time came for a freshening a few years ago, it was stripped, straightened, and sprayed with modern urethane to really make it pop. The bodywork is quite straight, including the quarters that have had a ton of time invested in block sanding so the reflections are clear and crisp. The paint is well done, not a show car but quite nice for those warm summer evenings that are ideal for cruising with the top down, and any show you attend will be happy to have this car on the field. The hood fit could be adjusted a bit, but that's about the only notable thing to address on what is a pretty darned nice car. All the chrome and trim is in good shape, too, with bright bumpers, shiny rocker panel trim, and excellent taillight bezels out back. This is one good-looking icon.Early Mustang interiors are some of the best places to spend a weekend, and the parchment buckets in this car wear fresh seat covers that replicate the deluxe "Pony" interior quite nicely. That's a dealer-installed under-dash A/C unit, which is a rather rare feature on a 6-cylinder convertible but most welcome here, although it needs to be serviced. Darker carpets help pull the interior together and the wood-rimmed steering wheel looks great with the matching woodgrained dash. An AM/8-track stereo is another rare but welcome option, and it would be cool to restore it and pull out some vintage tapes to really replicate the 1966 experience. The gauges are original and in good order and the console is a real bonus! The tan convertible top is brand new and folds easily thanks to a factory power setup, and stows under a matching tan vinyl boot. Finally, the trunk is fitted with a new mat and spare tire with cover. Now before you turn away from this pony because of the six-cylinder engine (the larger 200 cubic inch T-code version, by the way), you really should drive it. Actually, this Mustang was originally equipped with a C-code 289, but someone thought the six would work better and we can't argue with them. Thanks to seven main bearings inside, it's smooth, torquey, and pulls down decent fuel economy, which means that you can enjoy your Mustang convertible without guilt! It looks great in Ford Blue with all the original equipment intact, from the air cleaner to the stock exhaust manifold feeding quiet single exhaust system. The A/C compressor dominates the view, so it looks very stock at first glance, but look around and you'll see a lot of new parts. The C4 3-speed automatic transmission means that it's an easy cruiser there are a lot of new suspension parts underneath, too. Recent 195/65/15 radials have been fitted to a set of Eagle alloys wheels for an updated yet very sporting look.Mustang convertibles are always in demand, and once you discover the joy of ownership, you'll cherish this beautiful yellow pony.
