Description for Ford Bronco 1972

This has been my project for a few years. I don't have the time or money to finish the last few items, it's currently 90-95% completed. This is an opportunity to get a solid project that only needs a few things to be a super street rod. I've only driven it around the block slowly a couple of times, the brakes need to be bled and it needs an alignment so it's only possible to go very slow. It needs a few items finished to be complete, but it will be a fantastic Bronco when complete. I am available Saturday & Sunday if you want to look at it and happy to answer any questions. It has a lot of potential, run with the hard top, install thecut-down doors and remove the top, change the 6" round lights for LEDS light bars.....
The Good:
All rusty metal has been replaced, major areas replaced with reproduction patch panels. The rear fender flares are actually from front fenders. The full doors have Ford Explorer door handles and FJ mirrors. The gas door is from a Ford Explorer. It has a new early model grill shell and turn signals. The tailgate handle was removed and a smooth panel used to repair the original.
Frame was sandblasted and painted.
The interior has a Flaming River tilt column, Dakota Digital instrument cluster, billet control knobs for headlight and wiper switches. It has a Vintage Air Heat/AC system. The bed has mounts for removable fold-down seats with seat belts. A 6-point roll cage is installed with front grab handles. The console is a custom metal fabrication that houses a stereo, CD aux in, and USB support. There's no antenna, so the radio reception is not good.
The front seats are van seats mounted on Ford Explorer power seat bases. They are a little high, may be better to change the front seats for a lower profile set.
Highlights:Interior-6-point roll cage with grab handles, Dakota Digital gauges,
Body- Desert Storm Tan color with color matched jerry can. Windshield light bar with 4 6" lights, rear flares are from front fenders, tailgate has inside latches, Ford Explorer door handles and fuel door installed, FJ door mirrors. All rust areas repaired with new replacement panels and a few small areas with metal.
Top- new weatherstripping for side and liftgate glass, 4 lift points were installed(size is 1/2-20) Bedrails have nut inserts welded in so the top comes off easier. Includes Thule top rack.
Engine-'97 Ford Explorer engine with approx 128K miles, Edlebrock intake and carb, Summit Racing distributor
Transmission-AOD-E, lokar floor shifter
Transfer Case-NP205 with twinstick shifter
Brakes-F150 front knuckles, new rotors and calipers, rear disc kit from BC Broncos with parking brake. I have the parking brake cables, but not installed.
Suspension-Wildhorses 2.5" suspension lift with 2" body lift
Steering-BC Bronco 4x4x2 power steering box and mount plate, new tie rods, drag link, pitman arm, etc
Fuel system-26 gallon tank with FI electric fuel pump. Has a regulator for the current carb setup.
Tires- Brand new Goodyear Wrangler Duratrak 33x12.5 50R 15 LT on new American Racing 15x10 wheels.
Bumpers-Pre-runner style front and rear. Front has winch mount with 2 50-cal ammo boxes mounted currently. Rear has spare and jerry can mounts.
Doors have lift off stainless steel hinges
Items to fix:
The speedo gear does not provide enough pulses to set the speedo. Can be fixed with a new gear, or with lower gears(preferred method).
The rear end gears are too high, it has slow acceleration. It has a new 3.50 3rd member, so this could be sold to offset a new carrier. A 4.56 or 4.86 would be better.
There are a couple of wiring items, the front turn signals do not flash, rear's flash properly. The speedo sensor wire broke at the Dakota Digital control module, easy fix. This will be required for the trans controller to function.
The brakes need to be bleed, the pedal pumps up and stops fine but fades.
It needs a front alignment.
Full size doors need the window felts replaced. the current units do not stay in place, new felts are included. The vent windows must come out to properly install the new felts. I put
Eastwood sound deadener in the doors, but during the hot summer it is dripping out of the drain holes. I would remove it when the felts are replaced.
Transfer case may need linkage adjustment, front diff is hard to get in 4-wheel-high.
Extra parts included:SS parking brake cables
Extra cut-down doors for use with the top off
original sun visors
door felt weather-stripping
Extra TAN paint kit, 3/4 left
Original seats, upholstery is terrible but the frames are good.
Other:
I recently obtained a Street & Performance fuel injection wiring harness and think it would be best to return the engine to the FI setup. I have all parts, but the wiring harness needs to have the trans connector wired for AOD-e(it is currently setup for a 4R70W). I will include the original FI parts with a S&P flashed computer and harness if the final price hits $14K
