Description for Ford Model A 1929

1929 Ford Model A Roadster Pickup #3 restoration. stock except a 9 volt alternator instead of a generator. RECORD Breaker Famous road trip truck. First Model A to do the farthest south In continental USA Key west Florida to the farthest north you can legally drive in the USA Deadhorse Alaska near Prudhoe Bay on the Arctic Ocean. You can see the trip at keywesttoprudhoebay.com Not only is this the first model A to do that longest transverse of North American but it is also a roadster which means it is an open cab. NO SIDE WINDOWS.This Pickup is in excellent drivable condition and I would not hesitate to do another multi thousand mile trip, I have that much confidence in it. I had no major mechanical issues during that whole of 10,000 mile trip but numerous little things, mostly electrical, and believe it or not I did not have even one flat tire the whole time. It still has the original tires it had when I bought the vehicle. Now they have some serious balding spots so the tires need replacing, probably a new distributor, The exhaust manifold was cracked when I bought the truck and still is, so maybe a new exhaust manifold, and after all those miles probably brakes all around. although I did replace two shoes and checked all the others at the halfway point.I did meticulous upkeep, greasing everything every few hundred miles, packing wheel bearings as well, I changed the oil starting out every 600 miles but found it to be to often then started changing it every 1000 miles. The only thing that does not work is the trip odometer in the dash. that has never worked since I owned it and is stuck on 77 miles. but everything else works throughout the vehicle. The above web site will give you a detailed account of every day of the trip with photos of the truck and any problems I had.The history of the truck as I know it is; A barn find in Tennessee restored to its current condition by professionals that Rex hired, owned by"Rex" Rexrode and his wife Jerlene, formerly of Tennessee then retired in Florida, I flew to florida bought it and started myroad trip from there. This is not a perfect restoration but AFTER finishing my trip I entered it in our almost 500 car libby Ignitors car show and the truck won first place in its division!!!!!!! Still looks great!!!!!!! as well asprives great!!!!!! I babied the truckduring my whole journey, this is why I did not have even one flat tire. I also only had 1 or maybe 2 of the smallest rock chips, you probably couldn't find them if you looked. As far as the original restoration, as I said it was and still is a number 3, looks great 20 feet away but up close you will see lots of flaws and imperfections. the paint is fading especially on the front hood where the boiling watercoming out of the radiator cap cascaded down on the paint. but this is notreally noticable unless you look closely.I have hundreds and hundreds of dollars worth of extra parts, books, supplies etcthat would go with it. Originally Rex had $25,000 on it with no extra parts, now with the parts I want $19500.00 this willgive you some room to buy the other things it could use (that I mentioned above), of course you can call me with questions 406-283-1708 bob kehntruck located in Libby Montana
