Description for Ford Mustang 1965
1965 Mustang Coupe, original numbers matching 289 V8 and automatic transmission. Only 67k documented miles. I have every receipt from the original Bill of Sale to the current tile. Thousands of dollars in receipts. 2 registered owners. First Julia, who traded in her 1960 Ford Falcon with a $450 trade in allowance toward the $2850 brand new Mustang. She sold it in 1991 with 46k miles on the odometer to Neil who kept it until now. I have the original invoice and owners manual plus pages and pages of receipts. After an overheat Neil had the engine rebuilt at 55k miles. Also the trans has been rebuilt around the same time. This Mustang was ordered with the 289 V8 and automatic transmission but little else besides the Red bucket seats and console. No power steering, No power brakes, No radio. Seems like an odd combo but it was the 60's and she was upgrading from a Falcon. This Mustang was loved and well cared for throughout its life an gratefully was never modified, making it a some what rare example of how these cars were and drove. The car is still completely stock, save for the dual circuit master cylinder which is a wise safety upgrade. As clean and straight as this Mustang is it does have some typical rust issues. Both front frame rails need patching or replacement if you want a show restoration. The lower radiator support like wise has some rust holes (see pics) The sheet metal is original save for the drivers side outer rocker I assume as a new pass side was included with the sale. Every part replaced or up graded was meticulously boxed and saved and will come with the car. I purchased this car on a whim, seeing it on the side of the road in Maine with a for sale sign. I really have no room in my barn for it so I am considering selling it as I found it, otherwise it will begin a restoration soon. This Mustang is a gem as is but is worth a full restoration, there can't be many "barn find" Mustangs left. I have many more pictures and will answer any questions. Inspection is available anytime with notice as the car is at my Maine lake house 2 hours away. Thank you for looking.
