Next to the LAX Airport. 1966 Ford Mustang REAL GT Convertible A CodeVIN: 6T08A103330PICTURES BELOW REAL GT A CODE: just a few of the items that verify it being a real GT:1- open the trunk. remove the original rubber plug. put finger down hole on top of the frame. there is a round tube crossing one edge in the frame. as your finger curves under the tube. it hits the GT ONLY reinforcement. Only the real GT cars were built this way. 2- pull out the rear seat. bottom and top. Carefully peel back the old insulation. and you see the reinforced plate/sheet metal that is located behind the seat where the rear seat belts bolt in. and the exhaust hanger bolts and metal piece is there. The reinforced sheet metal is ONLY GT. caution: they do sell this piece now. so on a fresh restoration be careful. if it looks newly welded in. but this one is obviously original to the novice or professional because anyone can tell it has not been touched since 1966 because it shows a nice patina. Pics coming below 3- A Code Car. But all A codes are not GTs 4- Radiator Support fog light holes have slight bevel- these are punched as the real GTs are. not drilled. ## There are many other items like the fog lights. fog light switch. wheels etc. but what really matters is the 1 and 2 above. All else can be faked. This drop top is in great shape! Hop in. grab a few friends and go for a cruise down Pacific Coast Highway! Cherry red paint. clean carpets and a clean red and white interior are just a few of the perks. Matching steel wheels with factory hubcaps and white wall tires in older original condition add style. The A Code 289 V8 engine starts right up. runs great and the transmission shifts correctly like it should. It tracks in a nice straight line right down the highway. Front power disc and rear drum brakes stop quickly and quietly just like they are supposed to. Power steering is very tight and it handles great cruising down the road. Turn on the Factory Air Conditioning. It blows strong and cold!InteriorAir Conditioning working properly and blows cold. Factory gauges all working and function as expectedPony Interior. red front and rear seats with matching red and white interior trim. All factory chrome trim is in good shape with little to no pittingInterior lights. cigarette lighter. etc all in working order. Aftermarket radio with cassette tape deck. flush with dash. uncut to look factory original. Window cranks. door handles. vent window latches all function properlyExteriorGlossy red paint in good shiny shape. with some wear This is an older restorationVinyl convertible top in good shapeHeadlights. fog lights. tail lights and blinkers all functionWheels look good. olderWindows and Windshield glass are in good shapeGrates and Grills are in great shapeThere is an area on top of the passenger door where there is a quickly touched up areaDoors and hinges all work smoothly and solidlyMechanicalSmall Block Ford 289 V8 Engine A Code. 4 Barrel CarburetorPower SteeringFactory Air Conditioning blows coldElectric convertible top. works solidly without issues3 Speed Automatic TransmissionRear Wheel Drive Dual ExhaustFront power Disc Brakes. Rear Drum BrakesAfter market Dual Brake Reservoir and Power BoosterPICTURES BELOWThis 1966 Ford Mustang Convertible with GT Trim is mechanically in great condition. and cosmetically in an older restoration category. It has an A Code 289ci 225 hp 4 barrel small block v8. a rebuilt 3 Speed automatic transmission with Factory Air Conditioning to keep you cool when the top is up. The convertible top works great and it's a real pleasure to feel the open air while you cruise the highway in this classic beauty. Paint and striping are shiny and in nice shape. I would classify this car's condition as a great driver and older restoration. At some point this car was blue as I can tell looking into some knooks and crannies. The body is straight. with good gaps and only minor touch ups here and there. The body is a solid metal body that is not full of bondo etc. The chrome is bright with few blemishes. Pop open the hood and check out the engine bay. You'll find it's very clean. tidy. and in great working order. The 289 engine makes great power. and the dual exhaust helps give this Mustang a rich v8 sound. The rebuilt transmission shifts smoothly into gear and works exactly as it should like it has been treated well it's entire life. The car has a nice balance of power and drive-ability. Front power disc brakes and power steering will make you feel in control at any speed. The tires are in good shape and fitted to original style steel GT wheels. The weather stripping has mostly been replaced when the car was restored. All the doors close in a snug and sealed fashion. . All the doors and trunk lock correctly. The door sills are in nice shape. All gauges work properly. The windows are manual and go up and down effortlessly. Perfect for cruising up and down the Pacific Coast Highway or just about anywhere! There are some imperfections on this car. and we've gone over this car with a fine tooth comb and will detail them here for you. There are some paint chips on the rear fender. trunk interior. steering column. near the right GT logo. and under the right fog lamp. There are some small scuffs on the driver's side dash above the gauges. and the rear seat interior panel beneath the rear window on the driver's side. The rear passenger body panel gap is slightly loose as pictured. but will soon be tightened down. These are minor cosmetic imperfections and in no way affect the operation of this car. On the passenger door on the spot where a mirror could go. there is a poorly blended in area of paint. Also some wear and tear on interior and exterior from being an older restoration that has been actually used. SEE AND CLICK ON ALL THE PICTURES.
