Description for Ford Mustang 1968
1968 Ford Mustang Coupe 390 4 speed one ownerThis is a true one owner Mustang. Purchased new in August of 1968, she wanted a 4 speed Mustang and loved the colors on this car. Her husband owned a 1965 Fastback 289 4 speed which she drove home from the dealership and could not wait to get her own. With the passing of her husband in 1971 it left two cars for her to drive to work and back for the next 35 years. She was my 8th grade English teacher and she lived one mile away from school and one block from me. She drove the the Fastback one week a month and the Coupe 3 weeks a month. Unable to drive anymore it is time to sell her favorite car. We hope it will go to a home where it will be driven and enjoyed for many years to come.
The car starts and runs great and it loves to cruise at 75 on the freeway. The tires are only a year old and it drives straight down the road, and it brakes straight as well. It shifts smoothly through the gears and is quiet on the freeway. The interior is clean with new seat covers and carpet. The head liner does not have any rips or tears. All the glass is original to the car as well. The front seat belts are black with shoulder harness straps that attach to the roof. There are no rear seat belts. The steering wheel shows its age and the dash sags on the drives side. The numbers on the trip meter are losing the white paint but the odometer looks great. All the gauges function well. The fuel gauge needle does not make it to the full mark when you fill up, and the needle drops below E which acts like a reserve. The heater box has been completely redone as well. In the glove box is the original owners manual, warranty card and other items of historical interest including the 1969 registration card.
The original motor was rebuilt last year and runs excellent. It currently has a large Holly carburetor on it, and the original is included with the sale of the car. The car came with power steering which works well but does drip some fluid. The non power drum brakes actually work well but you should still allow greater distance to stop. The car was repainted in the original color some time ago with the same white stripe as the Marti report states. There are two small paint chips on the passengers side one on the door and one on the rear quarter panel.
All the chrome looks bright and nice and the rocker moldings are new. The car looks very nice and clean inside and out, under the hood and in the trunk. This is a car you can drive and enjoy year round. Please look at all the pictures and the Marti report. The Marti report will be included with the sale. I have been trying to get historical photos from the original owner and if I get any, I will pass them on.
I could find no rust and no patch panels.
I beleive the mileage to be 167857 actual miles. All though it could be only 67k.
