Description for Ford Model A 1980
1980 Shay Model A Roadster. This a Quailty replica of a 1929 Ford Model A Roadster. The history of Shay, in 1979 Shay got permission from Ford motor company to reproduce the model A as a celebration of the 50 year anniversary of the 1929 Roaster. The Shay model A could only be purchased from the ford dealership as a special order. Shay only made them in 1979 and 1980. Not that many were made. The Shay came with a fiberglass body and a modern Ford engine and running gear. The one I'm selling was purchased in 1980 by the original owner in Sacramento Ca. I purchased it from the original owners a couple of years ago. It has been a dependable fun car to drive for me. I removed the governor from the carburetor and that really gave it some extra needed power. It quickly gets up to speed, can cruise at 60plus mph all day long. When on the freeway I prefer to drive it 60 to 65 mph,I'm bearly pushing on the accerator peddle to make it go 60mph. Gets a vibration from spoke wheels on speeds above 65mph. Gets over 20 mpg on average. Always starts right up and is willing to go. With the rack and pino steering it feels like it's power steerin, (not power steering) very easy to steer. The brakes have disk in the front and drum in the rear. electronic ignition. 2.3L over headcam engin, the same one used in the Pinto and other ford in 1980. 4 speed stick, goes in and out of all gears as it should. No known fluid leeks. New battery some what recent oil change.

Has fading, scratches and other normal wear from being well over 30 years of use.Interior, has wear as expected. Some tears in the front seat have been covered with uplulstery black tape, it actually looks ok and has held up ok. This is way better than the stock Shay dash.Four seat beltsAwoogah hornRumble seatLocking steering wheelTurn signal and brake lights work as they should.
This has been a fun dependable car. It gets attention everywhere I go. Almost no one knows it's a replica. I am the second owner of this car. The original owner use to drive it from Sacramento to Plam Springs (approx 500 miles) every year or two for a model A club he was in. I have personally driven it a lot around town over the last couple years, it runs great does not over heat in stop and go traffic. It is very quick on the take off and has a nice around town cruising speed.
Car is located in Sacramento county
