Description for Ford Galaxie 1962
A ground up restoration has just been finished on this car. The car was a Wyoming based car that was 95% rust free when the restoration was started. The only miles that have been put on the car since it has been finished is about 20 test miles. So in other words this baby is Super Fresh! Here is the lowdown on the car. ENGINE - a 390 cu. in. 330 hp. engine completely rebuilt to factory specs with the following exceptions- Eldebrock performance cam and lifters. double roller timing chain. nbsp;Summit 600 cfm dual feed w/electric choke carb. nbsp;and a Petronix phase 2 distributor and coil. The following parts were also replaced new: water pump. fuel pump. thermostat. alternator. starter. battery. cables. hoses. and vacuum lines. TRANSMISSION - the original cruiseamatic was replaced with a more modern rebuilt C-6. The torque convertor. modulator valve. and trannie lines are all new also. There is a new custom drive shaft and u bolts installed. UNDER CARRIAGE - The frame. trunk pan. and floor pans were all stripped. primed. and painted. The gas line and brake lines were all replaced. The original shocks were switched out for KYB gas filled units. BRAKES - The single master cylinder was replaced with a 7" double diaphragm booster. double bowl master cylinder. and a new proportional valve. All wheel cylinders. brake mechanisms. and brake shoes. The drums were turned to allow for smooth stopping. EXTERIOR - The car was stripped and smoothed with not a lot of filler being used. It was then painted in 1962 Rangoon Red base/clear. wet sanded starting with 800 grit and ended with 2000 grit. buffed. and then polished to a high gloss. All stainless trim was wet sanded and buffed. Bumpers. door handles. etc. were all rechromed to like new condition. TOP - The top mechanism was taken off. blasted. primed. and painted. Then it was reinstalled and lubricated to work like new. There was new pads. top. and back window installed. The top hoses were replaced and the electric top works great. There is also a new red boot that is installed when the top is lowered. INTERIOR - The entire interior is brand new. The seats were recovered with original style seat covers from Dearborn. The rear arm rests and side covers. front and rear door panels. kick panels. carpet. and floor mats have all been replaced. The dash was completely disassembled. painted. all bezels and knobs replaced. light switch and ignition switch replaced. and all bulbs installed new. The heater box was also disassembled. painted. and all seals replaced. WHEELS - The rims are Torq Thrust 2 that are a one piece polished style. The fronts are 17" x 7" and the backs are 17" x 8". The tires are 245 55/17 on the rear and 225 55/17 on the fronts. The wheels and tires have 20 miles on them. During this Extensive Restoration the wiring harness was replaced with a EZ wire unit. all new head lights. turn signals. and tail lights were replaced. This restoration was professional done and it shows! The only things I know that are wrong with the car is the horn does not work and there will need to be a safety neutral switch wired in. Note: This car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early if it sales.
