Since the beginning of automotive racing and performance, the goal has been to make more horsepower and reduce weight. Ford fans rejoiced when the Falcon debuted, as it was a compact car with just enough room to utilize a V8 for horsepower. The 1965 Falcon Futura Hardtop Coupe weighed in at just 2,491 lbs.… Most opinions are that 1965 was the “best year” of the Ford Falcon. The Falcon would not be the same after 1965 and this was largely due to the introduction of Ford's new best-selling car, the wildly successful Ford Mustang. Lee Iacocca and Ford marketed the new Mustang as a re-skinned FALCON and saved millions of dollars in the process.

This 65 Ford Falcon was built on October 26, 1964 in Lorain Ohio and then shipped to District 21 Atlanta GA for sale. This Falcon was sold new in Atlanta and it spent its entire life in the great state of Georgia… The original color was white and it was changed to Raven Black paint when the car was repainted several years ago. (it has had 1 repaint). The car did have an original red interior/bench seat and original 289V8 and original 4 on the floor transmission.

I have the bill/receipt on the work as well as the Initial Spin/Bobweight Card/ Final Spin Card (numbers)

The rear end was also rebuilt with a 300 Gear Positive traction which matches up perfectly with the engine & trans combination.

I don’t know the horsepower and I would be guessing if anything… but I can tell you it pulls real strong. The car is fast and it is tuned just right.

The motor has always had Royal Purple 10/30 full synthetic. We changed the oil on 2-15-17 and the filter. We also went over the entire car for tune/tighten/lube & service. We put two outer tie rod ends on the car, new set of Ford Valve covers and gaskets, new gas filter and fuel hose, a new battery, and a new tachometer. The chassis was lubed and all lights, turn signals sand gauges were inspected.

This car starts up with one turn of the key and runs excellent in every way. It drives and handles very well also. The car is ready to go and needs nothing mechanically that I know whatsoever. If it needed anything I would’ve already done the work. I would not hesitate to go anywhere in the car. It’s a pleasure to drive and a real attention machine to boot!

Body & Paint:

I believe that the body is all original sheet metal and it is pretty straight down the sides. The doors shut nice and firm and the gaps on the doors, hood, and trunk are all excellent. I’ve been all over the car with a magnet and I can’t detect any body filler at all. The only rust that I can detect is that the trunk has been previously patched as well as the passenger floor pan has a small patch as well. The front and rear chrome bumpers are perfect. The balance of the stainless & bright work is average with some heavier pitting on the door handles, side mirror and the trunk rear Falcon trim. As stated above the original color was white and it had one re-paint several years ago when the color was changed to Raven Black. The paint work was pretty good at the time as it very slick paint and polished out to a mirror finish. However, the paint does have a little age patina/imperfections on it that I decided not to repair. On top of the driver side front fender there is a paint chip that was touched up previously as well as a little checkering on the paint. I’m not sure why because it isn’t doing that anywhere else. It doesn’t bother me enough to take it to paint shop. Additionally, on the bottom lip of the trunk lid there is a paint crack and a few other small imperfections here and there. The glass looks to be original and in pretty good condition except for the driver’s window which has some etching in the glass which looks like from a chemical at some point in the cars life.

Interior:

The interior is stock looking except for the steering column tachometer and the small 70’s style steering wheel… both of which go great with the “OLD SCHOOL” style & stance of this car. They match up real nice with the SS Cragers, yellow traction bars, and the air shocks. Most of the interior is original and original red paint, I believe the headliner is original also and in really nice condition… The carpet is newer. The gauges and controls all seem to work as designed and as stated above it is a real pleasure to drive this car!
