Description for Ford Thunderbird 1963
Selling a 1963 Ford Thunderbird two-door hardtop with a 390 V8 engine and automatic transmission.
It has been a California car from day one: my father purchased it back in the mid-1960s, so if he's not the original owner, the car is as close to a one-owner as you're likely to see for a car of this vintage.
The car runs and drives as it should, and the odometer reads 14823 miles. My father had the entire drive train rebuild back in the early 2000s, but because he was getting on in age and wasn't driving much anymore, it has only a few hundred miles on it since then. The car was painted at around that time (early 2000s) in the original color, but will need it again. The body is otherwise in good condition with virtually no rust or dents. The car also comes with the real wheel skirts. The brakes were completely redone in 2016.
Apart from a split in the driver's seat upholstery that will need attention, the original blue vinyl interior is in very good condition. In the mid-2000s, my father had a mechanic friend remove the door panels to fix a problem with the power windows; they are in the trunk. The car has AC, power windows, and power steering, and the steering wheel shifts to the side for easy in and out.
The car is all original and complete (no missing parts, etc.) and would make an excellent, relatively easy and straight-forward restoration project for the right person. Unfortunately, I just don't have the time or skills to restore it myself, so I am hopeful its next owner will give it the restoration it deserves.
I have done my best to describe the car as accurately as I can and will do my best to answer any questions you may have. Bear in mind that the car is sold as is where is with no warranties expressed or implied. Title is free and clear and car is currently registered with correct vintage black and gold CA plates.
