Description for Ford Thunderbird 1963
1963 Thunderbird CoupeThis really is one of my favorite yr Thunderbirds on the market and sellingit is bittersweet. I dont see them come up for sale locally much anymorethis solid. Also known as "Bullet Birds" they offer some of the cleanest linesand look offered by the factory that other cars from that era cant even compare to. Just walk around the car and youll notice styling ques like:Outter door handles basically built into the body linesA pointed front nose that cuts thru the air sexy and subtle. dont forget thefactory hood bulge (simulated scoop) on a luxury car keep in mind !! The reartaillights scream the Fighter Jet era. Any car driving behind you may thinktwice before getting too close to those "afterburner" styling !Be prepared to check out an auction the way every one should do online !Some of the most complete and best pictorial of the car youll see anywhereon ebay and online for that matter !! ALMOST 200 large clear pics !!The cars paint and interior obviously have been neglected. but mechanically the Birds been pretty well kept up. Its been a 2nd car. driver for the last 15 yrs. Not pretty on the inside. but functional and reliable too until just recently the tires are old and worn so it was taken off the road. The other thing that recentlystarted acting up was the transmission stopped shifting into 3rd on the freeway. Its not slipping. it just wont shift into 3rd anymore. Not sure if its a minor fix andsomething sticking in the trans or some thing more major. If you where just travelingaround town w/o needing 3rd gear. you could put a set of new tires on it and hop in and go right now ! Its really that drivable and reliable. Interior wouldnt bethe cleanest but it almost all there. Ive seen some people cutting the roofs of these car turning them into basically a hardtop convertible / roadsters. It makes for a way more customlook and interesting driver . but not sure exactly how much it effects the values on these cars. If done well. it would probably increase the valueIm sure. Made into a convert. drop it about 3" all around. put some 18" wheelsand tires on it. would be a GREAT start for an awesome cruizer !!!Even if you dont want to cut the roof off. it would be beautiful. PLEASE READ THE REST OF THE DESCRIPTION FOR MUCH MORE INFO ABOUT THE CAR AND WHAT ITS ABOUT OUR 100% feedback speaks for itself I CAN PROMISE YOU. the Potential buyer/bidder . YOU WONT SEE ANOTHERT-BIRD on Ebay with as many detailed pictures as our car. This is the way we have been helping sell cars on Ebay now for over 10 yrs. Our feedback (please check it. it takes 5 minutes) speaks for itself. NOT MANY OF THESE rust free T Birds are left with original sheetmetal still like this one. UN RESTORED SURVIVOR. Our auctions clearly show the most detail of what to expectOver any other auctions Ive seen online. clearly making the decision for the bidder easier. This Tbird has been in Az since the early 70s according to the previous few owners and the lack of rust on this car is amazing. It has a few small spots by the rear wheelwells. and drive side floorboard is the worst of it. If you are looking for a car to restore. this condition car would easily be the best candidateto start with hands down. . We try to show all the areas well in the 100+ pics below. give them time to load when opening the page. ODOMETER shows about 42k miles on it. and chances are its rolled over once. Arizona cars are time capsules half the time and the best kind to restore. DRIVETRAIN: nice original 390 4v motor. with the stock Motorcraft 4vcarb still sitting on top. Turn the key and it fires right up and idles nice. We havent even tried to tune it up but its running so well. I dont think itreally needs anything right away in that dept. PS and PB work well too. Engine bay is very clean too and un-restored condition. yet pretty clean. Motor sounds good and runs nice. Rearend. the original 9" outback no issuesto report there either. The original C6 auto drops into all gears great untilwe get to 3rd. where it just wont shift into 3rd . Again. not exactly sure whybut redoing these C6 transmissions these days isnt as costly to do anymoreif it needs it. Keeping driving it around town. and maybe you wont have to touch it for a while and maybe it will fix itself. Keep in mind the car reallyhas only had maybe 1500 miles put on it in the last year. INTERIOR: old and AZ has been hard on the vinyl and plastic as youllsee. so its pretty rough when you first look into it. But really if it had somemild restoration put into it ( carpet and upholstery at least) it could be usedas a driver while you where restoring the rest of it. some of the interiors been taken apart to start redoing it. and ifRecent owner started taking some of it apart already for resto. youll see some interior chrome trim pieces missing on the car. chancesare it will come with the car still. we have a big box full of stainless andchrome trim from inside and outside the car that comes with the car. (SEE PICS)Some pitting on the interior chrome. but still mostly complete. EXTERIOR: originally the car was white and I believe you are lookingat whats left of the original paint from 1963. Very solid body and the chromeand stainless on the outside of the car are in amazing shape for their age. Glass all seems to be good too. Some of the trim thats missing in the picsie the trunk Tbird badge comes with the car (in the box of extra parts)Even the front grill looks like its in great shape after 50 yrs. SUSPENSION: basically bone stock suspension thats been taken careof over the years but Im sure will need some work to be perfect. The front upper control arm bushings where just recently done to helpmake the car more driveable around town. Tires are junk. Drum brakes all around feel actually good and predictable. Keep in mindthe cars not restored. Id still suggest checking all 4 corners before drivingin heavy traffic or taking a long trip. 1961-63 Thunderbirds are increasing in popularity more each yr and valuesare going up on these models all the time. This Bird is a great startingpoint for the next owner. esp if you DONT want to spend weeks fixing rust issues. Alot of the custom rod shops are doing some amazing things with these cars. Below is a pic of a Tbird I saw at the 2014-15 SEMA SHOWCheck out ALL the pics below ----->If other auctions are not showing areas under their trucks. nbsp;who really knows what sort of shape its in. Dont find out the hard and $$ way. At least our auctions show as muchas possible to potential buyers and bidders. it may take a full minute for them all to load if you have aslow connection. so be patient AND looks for the extra scrollbar on the right side. Az gets maybe 12" a yr of rain and Az very dry climate. more info AFTER the pics etc. There are 100 large pics. Heres a great chance to buy a nice AZ car T Bird that youhave been wanting from a seller you can trust. An auction with as much info and pics possibleand the best way to buy a truck long distance. A vehicle marketed for ALL ebay bidders and buyers. UN RESTORED and affordable to most all buyers !!!Being sold by us. a seller with excellent feedback and history With ebay and buyers. What more could you ask for ? :)The lucky person who buys this car will have a great time fixingit up and will appreciate how easy this car comes apart withthe lack of rust they may not be use to .
