Description for Ford Custom 1951
1951 Ford Tudor Custom Hot Rod Oh, "Maybellene!" See this '51 Ford Custom Tudor HOT ROD in a great video HERE. Don't Miss Maybellene's Video Above / Best viewed on a PC Screen with surround sound! ^ ^ " Maybellene is a proven show winner, built in the early 1990s. Always garaged and maintained, this Ford has been enjoyed immensely over the years. It is a pleasure to drive and is still in beautiful condition, a testament to the build quality of this car. This car was built specifically to DRIVE and SHOW. I had a wonderful time cruising with this car and the colorful owner. It is now time to find this sweet one off hot rod a new home. Please look carefully through the special presentation and feel free to contact me with any questions. Thank you! " - Sam Mallow, Samspace81
Maybellene is a 1950's styled hot rod that was built with love. A lot of time & talent went into her. Her latest award was the 2017 Barris Award presented at Dallas Autorama. We do not wish to part with the Barris award, sorry you'll have to collect more trophies with this beauty. The body displays beautiful '91 Corvette dark red metallic base/clearcoat paint paired with a carefully schemed Cadillac Gold Firemist So-Cal Hot Rod Scallop Job. Hand-laid pinstriping is just right. The 50's theme is alive and well with this baby doll. Also note the shaved door handles. Tastefully selected features include the Louvered Steel Hood, Frenched '59 Cadillac taillights & a '54 Pontiac Grille assembly. The headlights are Frenched 1955, fitted with '54 Mercury rings, naturally. It all comes together well. Note the Lake Pipe Exhaust "dumps" poking out behind the front wheels. Chromed Reverse Wheels are fitted with Wide Whites front to back.
Under the hood is the warmed-over Chevrolet 350 Dual 4 Barrel V8. This street performance-oriented balanced & blueprinted engine assembly was rebuilt & bored .020 over previously. It runs strong & is paired with the 700R4 Automatic Overdrive transmission. The bumpstick is a 270 Comp Cam. Dual Carter 500cfm carburetors feed this smallblock mill. Exhaust gases are expelled in a hurry through chromed shorty headers to true duals with that classic "glasspack" sound. Listen to the video and you'll notice the Pete Jackson Gear Drive also keeping the engine's music in time. The '77 Ford Maverick rear end paired with the overdrive trans makes for nice highway cruising. The engine compartment has had a lot of tasteful work done to it.
Pleated Naugahyde Vinyl upholstery has been tailor-fitted front & back to the stock seats. The dash features an underdash air conditioning unit, a necessity here in Texas. A 1958 Chevrolet Impala steering wheel fits this old Ford nicely I might add, residing atop the tilt steering column (1977 Chevy Van of course) Check out that louvered glovebox door..
The trunk has been restored & tailored to match the interior. Note the professional wiring & color-keyed/pinstriped hidden trunk fuel fill door.
