Description for Ford F-100 1972
This awesome 1972 Ford F-100 pickup is what you get when you cross a working-class hauler with a 5.0 Mustang. The subtle paint hides a rockin' 302 cubic inch V8 and a 5-speed manual transmission, and while it's easily identifiable as a Ford F-100, the cosmetic modifications give it a much slicker road-race look that works rather well. There's a considerable amount of time invested in this F-series pickup and it shows. Most notably, the front end has been cleaned up with a black grille and custom bumper that tucks almost seamlessly into the bodywork. No stripes, no scoops, no spoilers, but you can easily see there's a clarity of purpose here that makes this Ford look wicked. Fog lamps and crystal clear LED headlights update the look and the roll pan out back keeps it sleek and smooth. The paint is in good shape, and we like the color, which softens the look a bit and doesn't seem like it's trying too hard. Nice gaps and a bright shine give it a high-quality impression and that little tool box built into the bed is a neat feature. Most of the original emblems are still in place and the bed is finished to the same standards as the rest of the truck, so maybe its working days are over. It's just too nice to carry the rough stuff.Someone with a sense of fun restored the interior, combining original '70s materials with a bunch of modern performance. The woven bench seat upholstery looks very much like what this truck would have worn in 1972 and the brown door panels and tan carpets are a pleasing combination that still works well. On the other side, however, you get a polished steering column, modern wood-rimmed wheel, and a 5-speed manual shifter sticking out of the transmission tunnel. The factory gauges are in good order, covering the basics of speed, fuel level, and temperature, while the secondary controls are stock. Under-dash A/C looks like a period-perfect way to keep things comfortable inside and there's an AM/FM/Bluetooth Retro Sound radio with auxiliary inputs hidden under the A/C unit, so you can bring your entertainment with you. There's also modern LED lighting, heavy-duty floor mats, and recent seat belts. The 302 cubic inch V8 was totally disassembled and rebuilt and almost everything inside is brand new. There's an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor on a Weiand aluminum intake, and they added a few factory-style decals to the chrome air cleaner to make it look OEM. MSD supplied the electronic ignition system and polished valve covers dress it up a bit. The orange block stands out against the yellow paint and works well with the overall theme, and a set of long-tube headers bump into a throaty dual exhaust system that's pure 5.0 Mustang. The entire chassis was sandblasted and repainted and the floors are painted to match the bodywork providing a great background for all the new hardware. Lowering springs give it a bit of a rake and there are power front disc brakes to keep everything in check. Classic Torque Thrust wheels and staggered 245/65/17 front and 275/60/17 rear BFGoodrich truck radials complete the custom look.Nicely built, fun to drive, and full of thoughtful touches, this is an unusual and fast Ford that will always generate attention.
