1969 Mach 1's are among our favorite cars of all time. From the aggressive body style complete with scoops & spoilers to their wide shoulders they exude Muscle. Add in the 428 Cobra Jet & Shaker Ram Air andour knees get all jiggly. This Mach checks the right boxes and has a Marti Report to prove its the real deal.
This is an older restoration, done in 1990. Since that time it has seen some driving so expect the normal stone chips and minor imperfections of a 27 year old paint job. The paint still looks quite nice, but was not a high end show quality paint when done. The floors, frame rails and quarters are nice solid units that look great. Some work had been done on the factory sheet metal for the restoration but the work done was high quality and made to look like stock. The molding are mostly original and show wear but are straight and presentable. This one is easily nice enough for the weekend show n shines but not too nice to drive and enjoy.
The interior is in great condition and decked out with all that is cool in a '69. From the floor console to the fold down rear seat, this on has the options you want. A very rare (and working) factory tachometer still graces the instrumentation. A rare and optional AM/FM Stereo system is functioning and features factory door speakers. The upholstery is all quite nice with minimal wear, still soft and supple from a life lived indoors. The factory Rim Blow steering still works nicely. The door panels are in excellent condition with nice stainless and fit nicely. Again, easily nice enough for weekends shows and only very minor wear.
The 428 was rebuilt in 2004 and has seen very little use since. It has the correct C8OE-N cylinder heads, CJ Intake Manifold and CJ Exhaust Manifolds. The block is dated 8L2, about 2 weeks after the car was built, there is a partial VIN on the back of the block but only 9R is visible. It has been upgraded with an MSD Ignition system. The engine runs excellent with loads of torque. It has a nice deep note to the idle and is still comfortable to drive.
The C6 Automatic Transmission still wears the Cobra Jet only Cast Iron Tail Shaft and 'R' Servo. It was rebuilt in 2007 and it too has had very little use. It goes into gear quickly and has nice firm shifts.
The rear end is the heavy duty 9" with a 3.50 ratio and the highly desirable Nodular Case Differential. This is an early Nodular case with the external bracing and without the N cast into the outside. The axles have the correct double drilled ends, denoting the 31 spline axles.
The Factory Power Disc Brakes and Power Steering all work nicely and are a Must-Have on a big block. You do not want to wrestle this car down from triple digit speeds on drum brakes or negotiate a tight parking lot with manual steering.
The 15" Magnum 500's are in great condition and are wearing brand new BF Goodrich Radial T/A's. The front is 15x7 with 235 60's and the rear is 275 60's.
