Description for Ford Other 1936

1936 FORD 1 1/2 TON DUALLY PANEL TRUCK EX BELCHERTOWN MASS. FIRE DEP’T.   In 1986 I pulled this beauty out of a tobacco barn in Northfield Mass. The original  21 stud flathead engine and trans had been robbed so wanting a practical useable antique motorcycle hauler I carefully installed a 302 Lincoln engine with a beefed up kevlar clutched small bell housing C6. Hooked up to a Frankland quick change differential with fine spline racing axles it has made a bullet proof formula. Stainless steel Sanderson headers and complete stainless steel exhaust system. RV grind roller cam for torque. Edelbrock  Performer intake. ports matched heads and a 600 Holly double pumper with a K&N filter. Remote oil filter. custom made engine mounts to the original flathead mounts.   Rebuilt windshield crank and VW electric wipers. Safety glass and tinted rear privacy glass. All door locks and steering lock function with original key. Air horns.  I have driven this truck trouble free to Davenport Iowa. Auburn Indiana . Oley Pa. and Hershey Pa. many times.   I converted the mechanical brakes to Lockheed hydraulics with a split master for safety.   The original wishbone is not split and the original front axle and steering are retained  just because the original geometry works so well and is trouble free. A single wire GM alternator gives 12 volts and LED rear lighting adds safety.   A NOS radiator was installed with an electric  fan which is almost never needed.   The truck tracks true  at 60-80 mph on NOS wheels with near new specialty tires of America 7. 50”x 200” rubber.   It is an eye catcher whenever and wherever you go. The side windows and rare roll down rear windows were installed by Proctor Keefe in Detroit when the truck was new. I had the cabinetry redone and a new headliner made  back in the eighties. The original birds eye maple floor is perfect. There are a few spots of corrosion along the running boards but otherwise the body is superb. New roof insert with correct long grain topping 2 years ago.   I have a LOT of spare mechanical parts for this truck which are included. many NOS sets of king pins and bushings which are the only high wear part on the truck. There is also a complete set of brake drums. backing plates etc. Stewart Warner stage 3 gauge cluster is installed under the dash.  AM/FM cassette hidden in the glovebox. Leather seats from a hi end SAAB. Stainless steel floor panels in the driver's area. I am selling this truck mainly because of  my age and health. I would like to keep the motorcycle intarsia logos for sentimental reasons. Price deduction if you don’t want them! $1000 off if you don't want them. Another $1000 deduction if you don't want all the spare wheels and brake drums which you will never need. These things were made to last centuries unlike today !  The truck is licensed and insured with a clear title  in my name as it has been every year since the 1980’s.   The truck could be restored back to original spec without much trouble as I did not butcher or weld anywhere on the frame.   Ford made many more 131 1/2”WB flatbeds etc. than they did panel trucks . They used an identical chassis  to this truck so donor chassis are everywhere cheap . I did not do any welding on the original frame . only the firewall would need attention as a small amount of the lower section was removed to clear the C6.     Sorensen 1936 production figures for the 131 1/2” WB panel are 1. 37 Std and only 81 Deluxe made  compared with 10’s of thousands of flatbeds.
