Description for Ford F-250 1972

Selling my 1972 F250 4x4 "Highboy". I've had this truck for about four years now and unfortunately my priorities have changed and I don't drive it enough to justify keeping it.

Within the last 1,000 miles, I have replaced/repaired the following items:
  • Water pump
  • Battery
  • Brake hardware/shoes/wheel cylinders
  • Tires
  • Replaced points with electronic ignition
  • Ignition coil
  • Spark plugs/wires
  • Distributor vacuum diaphragm
  • External voltage regulator
  • Rebuilt carburetor
  • Fuel pump
  • Fuel filters (both)
  • Fuel lines
  • Passenger rear axle seal
  • Transmission gear oil
  • Transfer case gear oil

The good:
Mechanically the truck is about a 9/10. The 360 FE engine starts right up and runs great. When it's cold the idle is a little uneven, however once it warms up it smooths out. The NP435 transmission shifts through all the gears perfectly and the NP205 transfer case works as it should. It holds good oil pressure at idle when warm (around 20 psi, which is considered very good for these engines). There engine does not knock, smoke, or have any valve chatter. The clutch could probably use some adjusting, but there is no grinding or slipping when shifting into or out of gear. The body is very clean. There is some minor surface rust in the typical areas, as you can see in the pictures. There is no rot and the body panels are all solid. The bed has a LineX spray in bed liner that was applied years ago. It could probably use a recoat on the top of the tailgate as the bed liner is starting to separate. The rest of the bed is perfectly fine. The tailgate opens and closes without issue. All of the lights, turn signals, and electrical components work as they should. The doors open and close nicely and the windows roll up and down just fine. The tires are like new with under 1,000 miles on them. The brakes were redone last year with all new hardware and shoes all around. The front end is tight and the steering is very responsive.
The bad:
There are a few minor oil leaks, specifically from the intake manifold gasket and what appears to be the oil pan gasket. The truck usually leaves a few small drips overnight. It looks as though the passenger side knuckle has developed a small leak, which occasionally leaves a drip. One of the shift rail seals on the transfer case has a small leak as well. Nothing major, but these items will eventually need to be dealt with. The headliner is shot. I put up some carpet padding with plans to install a new headliner, but I have not had a chance to finish the job. The window seals/weather stripping needs to be replaced on the driver and passenger doors.
The truck is by no means perfect, but it's very clean considering it is 45 years old. It has been very dependable and I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere. Please be aware the truck comes with no warranty and is being sold as is. It is also listed locally and I reserve the right to cancel this auction at any time.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions you have. Good luck and happy bidding.
