IMAGINE HOW AMAZING IT WILL LOOK WHEN YOU TAKE THE TIME TO DETAIL AT HOME! OVERVIEW When I was contacted by the previous owner of this car to go see it. I could tell it was a situation where they didn’t WANT to sell it. but reluctantly HAD to part with it. It was originally purchased by his father. who kept it in stock condition save for maintenance items. and a set of GT hubcaps (included) that he like to put on once in a while. He had the car repainted in the original HIGHLAND GREEN back in 1993. and then he passed away. leaving the car to his son. His son kept the car in exactly the same unmolested condition as his dad. except he added a beefier exhaust and muffler to give the 289 V8 a bit more growl. and kept it garaged here in Florida only to be driven to local car shows and events. It is perhaps one of the nicest examples of an original. relatively unmolested Fairlane you’ll ever come across. and thanks to being regularly driven its entire life. has NOT succumbed to the problems and issues that plague cars which are kept in dry storage without being used. THIS VEHICLE HAS A CLEAN AND CLEAR FLORIDA TITLE IN OUR POSSESSION. AND IS NOT A CONSIGNMENT VEHICLE. ***THE TITLE REFLECTS ACTUAL MILEAGE. AND THE CAR IS SOLD AS HAVING ACTUAL MILEAGE*** DESCRIPTION You probably can’t find another Fairlane as clean and original as this one. no matter how hard you try. The car has only had TWO OWNERS since new. a father and son. and it is in exceptional condition and ready to show. drive. and enjoy for years to come. It comes to you with the display board (name is NOT crossed out on original like in my photo). 4 GT hubcaps. miscellaneous extra trim pieces. and everything shown on the car. The body on the car is incredible. original. and about as straight and clean as you can find. There are NO signs of bondo. patch panels. replacement panels. or any kind of bodywork to be found on the entire car. Even the factory pinch welds are still intact! The car was repainted in 1993 in the original HIGHLAND GREEN finish. and it still shows fantastic today. which is a testament to the quality of the shop that was selected to do the work. There are a handful of tiny stone chips/blemishes on the car from normal use since then. but NO big scratches. scuffs. or issues to deal with. The car looks fantastic in the photos. and shows even better in person!!! The finish is glossy. slick. and wet looking. and I took photos in the sunlight as well as on a cloudy day so you can see it in a variety of settings. It has been regularly cleaned and waxed since new. and has spent its entire life in garage storage. The original vinyl top looks fantastic on the car. and shows no damage or issues. The trim. badging. chrome. and brightwork is in show quality or exceptional condition all the way around. and the only thing you may want to do is touch up a couple spots of the black flat paint on the grill. which isn’t really bad. but not up to the quality of the rest of the car. All of the glass is in the car is in great condition. and is believed to be original as well. There is very minor light wear signs on it. but no cracking or damage. Windows roll up and down with ease. and it is a true hardtop. NO POST car. so it lets you enjoy the air while you drive. unless you want to use the AIR CONDITIONING on hot days! The factory hubcaps are on the car now. and look great. PLUS you get the set of GT caps that the father had purchased for a different look. They are in great condition. but need cleaned. They are in the trunk of the car. along with a few pieces of side trim the father had collected when he was at swap meets and events. Never hurts to have extras!!! The tires on the car are new. modern radials that the son had installed just a few hundred miles ago. The raised white letters look great. and the car rides and handles wonderfully with them on. The chassis of the car is in phenomenal. original. and unmolested condition from front to back. with the only upgrades being the requisite shocks. bushings. bearings. brakes. etc. that have been replaced due to regular maintenance and upkeep. The pans are super clean. super solid. and are real metal – NO gunked up with undercoating and crap to hide things. There are NO holes. damage. issues. or prior repair areas on the floor. and all it really needs is someone to put it on a lift and wipe off some of the light road grime and dirt that is on it. As I said before. this is an ORIGINAL CAR. and the pinch welds are still in place. along with the fender stampings and all that good stuff. The brakes are in great condition. and have been maintained regularly since new. They are adjusted wonderfully. and pull the car down from speed with an easy pedal feel. no weird modulation. and no pulling. Steering is straight and easy too. especially with the modern radials. and the car does NOT wander or pull when driving it down the road. The original. numbers-matching 289CI V8 is in fantastic running order. and has never been removed from the car. It has been carefully maintained since new. and has no known issues or items to be addressed. It starts easily. idles cleanly. and has a nice mellow rumble from the newer exhaust system the son had installed. Snick the select-o-matic transmission into “D” and the car is ready to roll. with plenty of power on tap. and a smooth. seamless shift pattern across the power band. Kick-down works like it should. and the 289 has plenty of guts on tap for passing or the occasional tire chirp for good measure! On the freeway. the car glides down the road like a Cadillac. and the motor feels like it could just wind out for days. I have personally put about 100 miles on the car. in a mix of city and highway driving. and found it to be about as well-mannered as any of the newer cars we sell. The factory air conditioning has been converted to R134A. and it blows super cold whenever you want it to. The car does not show any signs of any mechanical. electrical. or functional issues. and it does not run hot either. I drive all of our cars down to the beach on a weekend day as sort of a “hot weather” test. because nothing will point out a problem like a 30 minute idle in stop and go traffic when it is 85 degrees out. This car did NOTHING out of the ordinary. and behaved so well that I wouldn’t be afraid to fly in and drive it home! What a cool story that would be to share! All of the lights work. the wipers work. the blinkers work. and the gauges/warning lights appear to function as they should as well. The old PHILCO radio fires right up. and tunes in your favorite channels with ease. The interior of the car is in very good. original condition. and has had nothing replaced over the years. It shows light wear and does have a few little tears. marks. and signs of use. but overall presents very well. They don’t make the parchment interior anymore from what I can see. so given the fact that the car is so original. and had the rare SPECIAL PROMOTION PACKAGE interior. we decided to leave it alone instead of replacing it with just vinyl. You can do whatever you would like when you get it home. but remember – THEY ARE ONLY ORIGINAL ONCE! Door panels are solid and show no rips or tears. but they do show a few marks and stains on them that may come off when you detail the car. As I said above. we do NOT detail our cars except for a quick wipe down with detailing spray and a vacuum. We feel it is best that you see the car the way we got it. so you know the care and condition it was given by the prior owner. This car was the original owners pride and joy. and I know that his son took exceptional care of it as well. Dash is clean and neat. with no damage or cracks evident. The rear deck panel has light wear and small cracks evident. but still shows well. Kick panels. rear panels. headliner. and pillar panels are all in very good original condition. The carpet is original. and shows fantastic. thanks to years of being driven with rubber AND carpeted floor mats on it. Overall. the interior of the car presents really well. and if you wanted to restore it to “like new”. it wouldn’t take much of an investment since you can get the replacement parts inexpensively through a variety of sources. The best thing might be to leave it the way it is though. as not a lot of clean Fairlanes even exist. and certainly not one as clean. unmolested. and original as this one is. If you are looking for a super clean. daily-driver capable. show worthy. and rare vehicle for your enjoyment. investment. or collection. this is probably one of the best you will find.
