Description for Ford Highboy Roadster 1932
Not all 1932 Ford Highboy roadsters are created equal. After all, it takes a thoughtful builder to fill this one with the best hot rod features like the flame paint, growling exhaust, and custom painted chassis. And just to make sure everyone remembers this machine, it even has performance-built Hemi V8 power.
Wescott makes some of the best steel-reinforced fiberglass bodies around, and that's exactly what you want on a highboy special like this. After all, the tightest gaps tolerances show off the unbroken lines of the iconic '32 Ford. Plus, the best panels make for the best canvas to lay down a custom flame paintjob. You can tell there was plenty of time, thought, and money invested in this fire-kissed front end, because not only is the color shift unique, but it also has great coordinating hues with the minty green paint. And even when you have the tan top in place, it fits into this color palette nicely. So this one always looks like a cut-above hot rod no matter how you drive it. And more than just the colors, this one really gets all the details right. The waterfall grille, blue dot taillights, and ionic Cragar SS wheels (with that tall and wide ones in the rear to let everyone where know where the power meets the road) all make for the kind of package we all see when we image the perfect custom hot rod.
This interior is a cool mix of aggressive looking but comfortable feeling. For example, the bench seat has durable vinyl for the high traffic areas, and comfortable cloth for where you sit an advantage you'll notice any time you hop in after spending all day under the car show sun. The wood and chrome steering wheel feels great in your hands, and it's mounted on an Ididit tilt steering column. The dash utilizes the exterior green with some great darker green pinstriping. It makes for a nice place to view the Classics Instruments gauges. But the readout you're going to be interested in the most is the large VDO tach right in front of you. It is an instant reminder that while this highboy comes with an AM/FM/cassette stereo, your real favorite soundtrack will always begin under the hood.
We know you've been staring at that motor, and so will everyone else. Mopar power is something quite unique in these '32 roadsters, and car people can instantly recognize the big valve covers of Chrysler's original FirePower Hemi motor. And while you can tell there was a small fortune spent on attention-grabbing polished components, the substance of this V8 is even more impressive. The 392 cubic-inch motor was rebuilt by the performance masters at Keith Black. It includes a solid roller cam, Hot Heads intake, Demon carburetor, and those amazing Sanderson headers. Of course, we love how those form the straight pipes with cutouts. They give you the option of having a rumbling dual exhaust out the rear, or a thunderous straight pipe experience when it's time for them to hear you coming. This one is built to be strong on the road with a four-link mono-leaf front suspension and four-link rear with adjustable coilovers. The TH400 three-speed automatic transmission has a stall kit and B&M shifter, so that you can the best performance out of this powerful V8. And control is also well in hand with front disc brakes and the grip of Firestone Firehawk tires.
