Description 1928 Ford Model A Pickup
Located in PORTLAND, OREGON.
OFFERED AT NO RESERVE. HIGH BIDDER WILL OWN IT.
This 1928 Ford was purchased in the 1970's by the father of the current owner. During the first years of the father's ownership it was restored as needed for use around town. This included replacing all four of the fenders with Wescott fiberglass fenders. The interior was reupholstered in black vinyl and appears stock. The wood in the bed was replaced with oak. Engine work was done to make it run well. It was used some, but the owner had many other Model A's and T's in his collection to work on, so this '28 mostly sat in the barn over the next 40 years. With the passing of the owner last year at age 94, the family is now making this neat early Model A Pickup available.
It was recently removed from the barn then washed, cleaned, and all systems checked. The distributor and carburetor were freshly rebuilt by The Model A Ford Works in Portland. A new 6 volt battery was installed, the radiator filled, the fuel system was flushed and filled with fresh gas and the truck fired off immediately. It runs smoothly with only a drippy water pump noted. PLEASE SEE VIDEO. Some smoke noted, which we believe is because the engine needs to run more to fully re-seat the piston rings. I have personally driven this truck and it runs, shifts and stops well. However, it should have all systems checked and serviced by a competent Model A mechanic prior to extended use. It is, at this point, literally "barn fresh."
The body appears straight and solid. The passenger door could be adjusted for better fit. Top is good with no leaks or tears. Older tires. The undercarriage is clean and solid. PLEASE SEE PHOTOS. Overall, it is in very good condition and would be a straight-forward restoration project; or just go through the mechanicals and drive it as it is. Either way, it will generate smiles wherever it goes.
