Description for Ford F-250 1978
******Re-listed due to non-paying bidder. please be sure you can pay and are serious. these auctions are expensive and time consuming THX*** Auto restoration shop offers this 1978 Ford F250 4x4. I’m in rural areas often buying Toyota Land Cruisers for business and personal restoration. I often come across good old 4x4 pickups. I buy up good units. mostly 73-79 Fords and 67-72 Chevys. then offer them for sale. Usually helps offset the fuel and other expenses on the re-sale (or so I hope). so I came across this truck. had an empty spot on my 3 car hauler. brought her home. This truck is a running/driving project. I bought this truck in a dry rural mountain town near Goldendale Washington. The previous owner had it for 19 years until I bought it. He set the truck up for heavy towing. put quite a bit of time and money in it a few years ago. The basics are good. it’s not a rusted out pile. an excellent candidate for the new owner to bring back to life. Click this photobucket link for 42 pics of this truck http://s953. photobucket. com/user/fj40man79/library/1978%20Ford%20F250%20Green Mechanical The motor is a 400. compression tested great. runs well. The motor will puff some smoke on initial start-up. The rubber valve stem seals are deteriorated. the need to be replaced. Oil goes by the rubber seals when hot. then it puffs on start-up. then clears in a few seconds. Does not visibly smoke when running. The 4 speed feels good. the transfer case feels good. The front axle is a Dana 44. the rear a Dana 60. no complaints there. The brakes are a little squishy. probably need to be bled out. The power steering works fine. 4x4 works fine. The rear suspension has air bags with a compressor in the engine compartment. switch in cab. The previous owner is a truck driver and put semi truck leveling air bags on this truck. Overkill. but there will be no ass-sagging under heavy trailering. If you decide not to use the bags. they and the leveling equipment are worth money. sell in your classifieds. Steel goose-neck hitch installed. The factory fuel tank has sediment. previous owner installed a gas can in the bed to move it around. I installed a new battery today. BODY Overall the body is good for a 37 year old 4x4. In my dry area of the state. rust is usually not a big concern. Please check out all the pictures on the link to see the integrity of the truck. This is not a show truck. there are chips. dings etc. The extra tail gate in the bed is included. 1973-79 Ford 4x4’s have experienced a surge in value the last couple years. I believe them to be a solid and worthy investment. I’ve put 10 miles on this truck to check it out. good enough to load/unload on a trailer for transport. not good enough for highway travel. I have a clear clean WA state title from 2000 in hand with bill of sale that will transfer directly to the new owner. $1000 non-refundable deposit due via PayPal immediate after auction conclusion (No Exceptions) I will take the rest via check to my business account. or PayPal on the remainder if you want to use your credit card. but you pay the 4% on all the money past the $1000 deposit. I USPS Priority mail you the title and bill of sale directly after full payment is cleared. Truck or papers do not leave my property until paid in full. I have a shipping broker whom has shipped dozens of high end vehicles for me without a hitch. I will get the buyer only a quote from him. Cheaper quotes can be found if you google 10 auto shipping quotes and fill out the form. Do not ask me for a shipping quote during the auction. I typically get 15-25 requests per auction. my broker would never answer my calls if I asked him for that many quotes every eBay auction. Newbie eBayers need to email before bidding. under 10 FB contact me or be cancelled. Thanks for understanding. I welcome 3rd party inspection during the auction. I’m a licensed auto appraiser myself and take no offense in you paying someone for an objective opinion. Highboy high boy xlt lariat custom dent side
