Out of 857 Boss 429 Mustangs produced for 1969, KK 1798 is the 597th car built and one of 201 painted candy apple red. Completed by Ford contractor Kar Kraft on May 15th, 1969, this red-on-black Boss 429 was sold new at Cook Whitehead Ford Inc. in Panama City, FL. Ford offered the 375 HP street B 429 for two model years only, 1969-70, to legalize the race-inspired engine for competition on the NASCAR high speed ovals. Because the massive hemi-head big-block was too wide to fit into the Mustang's engine compartment the final build was farmed out to Ford's performance shop, Kar Kraft, where the inner fenders were modified to make room for lowering the Boss 429 powerplant into place. As a top-of-the-line performance car, the Boss 429 came with a Toploader 4-speed transmission, 3.91:1 Traction-Lok differential in a nodular case rear end. Competition Suspension with staggered rear shocks, a front spoiler, power steering and front disc brakes, a Deluxe Mustang bucket-seat interior, 15-inch Magnum 500 wheels with Goodyear F60x15 Polyglas tires and a manually-operated functional hood scoop. In contrast to the wildly striped Boss 302, the Boss 429 exterior was subtle with only small front-fender decals. Included with the sale are two shipping invoices and the Marti Report that documents the car's status as an authentic Boss 429. KK 1798 still retains its original door data plate and dash identification vin tag. Also have copies of last three owners titles dated back to April 1982.
