Description for Ford Mustang 1966
I am selling my 1966 Ford Mustang Coupe because I can't afford to restore it. I have replaced the battery, batter tray, alternator, starter solenoid and starter and the transmission was professionally rebuilt a few years ago.As I'm sure you know, a car of this age comes with things that need to be improved. In my best attempt to provide full disclosure, here is a list of the things I am aware of:Still has drum brakesThe seals on the windows leakIt rides a bit rough and could probably use a tune upIt sways a bit and could probably use new bushingsAs you can see in the photos some body and paint work is needed to make this beauty cherryThe interior as far as I can tell is original, therefore, the seats and dashboard have cracked due to sun exposure and useThe interior trim on the drivers side door has begun to come apartScratches from normal use can be seen in the interior doors and rear paneling on both sides of the rear seat as well as the dashboardSome knucklehead (probably back in the 80's) drilled the dash to fit a cassette player which has sense been removedRust around the opening where the antenna is mounted (also a common Mustang issue)Scratches on the exterior consistent with use and probably some run ins with shopping carts and other car doors over the yearsPossible damage to the rear passenger's side fender that was repaired at some point but can be seen due to paint fadeRear dash cover cracked due to sun exposureNo power steering, brakes or windowsThe rear windows seem to have difficulty rolling up and downAlthough the mileage reads 83,000 plus, I don't have records going back far enough to say if that it the original 83,000
Now for the good stuff:It's a classic MUSTANG!!! How awesome is that right?!?She fires up and drivesThe car was built in the San Jose plant in California which shut down in 1965. Mustang enthusiasts may know that not very many 1966 Mustangs came out of that plant because Ford was in the process of shutting the plant downBased on a conversation with the prior owner, it appears that this Mustang has never been owned outside of California until now. I brought it out to Tennessee with my in July of this year and it has been kept in a garage with a dehumidifier running to keep the southern humidity at bay (yes, I'm that guy who bought a humidifier to protect his car). The strict six is an easy motor to work on and doesn't require a degree in molecular biology to change the oilThis Mustang is at a point where you can drive it to work during the week and work on it on the weekendAs you can see in the photos, the floor pans look just fine and the heater core appears intact as it works fine for a car of its ageThe car has two sets of original keysThe headliner is in pretty good condition and is not falling or saggingAlso, it makes for a great Christmas present!!!
Also, there are extras. Included with this Mustang is:4 extra hub capsA air leaner coverA manual both the book and CDA power antenna (not installed but still in the box)An after market radio design to look like an OEM radio (not installed)A patch plate for the dash to cover the drilled out holes (not installed)An interior kick panel for the driver's sideAn extra gas capMiscellaneous parts from Scott DrakeExtra pieces of interior trim Extra window cranks
I love this car and its a shame I have to let it go. Hopefully you are the type of buyer that realizes what a special car this is and will give it the love it deserves.
