[isdntekvideo] 1968 FORD TORINO GT CONVERTIBLE - 390 BIG BLOCKFactory Correct - Incredible Condition
Up for auction from my collection is this stunning 1968 Torino GT Convertible with a 390 ci 4V engine (rare Y code) and a C6 automatic transmission.
The big block 390 engine & C6 transmission are numbers matching to the vehicle and both functionbeautifully (rebuilt a by previous owner). During the rebuild, the Edelbrock/Holley 4V induction setup was added (factory original 2V intake & carb included).
This is an excellent running & driving vehicle with power steering, power brakes and new tires mounted on the factory GT wheels. It drives straight and true - shifts through all the gears flawlessly - no rattles, drifting, shaking or strange noises.

[isdntekvideo]One canimmediately tell that this car has been loved since new by its 2 previous owners. The man I purchased it from told me the car has always been a garaged kept 'top-down' weekend driver for thespring and summer months only - and was never in the snow or salty roads.
This story makes sense as you look at the photo ofthe owner and his bride on their wedding day (circa 1990s) where the car is shown top down, parked in front of his opened garage and looks completely detailed(see last pic in the photo gallery).
He also kept a small note book in the glove box during his 21 year ownership - writing down the date, odometer reading/mileage, gallons and MPG and cost each and every time he filled it up with gas. And reviewing the log book shows he only filled it up duringMay throughSept and only once inOctober (neverin Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb, March or even April).Note: hebought the car in 1996 from the original owner with only117K miles onit sincenew in 1968.The log book he kept starts with 117,177 miles on7/8/1996 (which also matches with the title I have) and the dates/gallons/mileage/MPG entries end 21 years later withonly showing 121,758 miles. So the second ownerowned it for 21 years andput just less than 5K miles on the car!!!
It also makes sense that this car was only driven during nice weather becausethe underside is extremely clean and well preserved. The frame rails, torque boxes and shock towers are look to bein excellent rust free condition. The floor pan is the factory original. And from what I can tell, this car retains all its factory sheet metal! The trunk, too, is rock solid.
The car has been repainted in the original factory born T codeFord #2008-A Candy Apple red color - which is absolutely stunningwith only very minor imperfections under close inspection. The original factory red color still shows on the hinges and wheels wells of the trunk area - which is also solid. Note: original Carb, Intake and AM radio are wrapped in stored in the trunk.

The original red bench seat interior is very nice with only a small seamthat has come undone on the driver's seat which can easily be stitched back together. The carpet has been replaced and a modern radio has been added (original AM radio included).
What appears to be the original "Ford" factory glass is in very nice condition, along with all the chrome trim, grill and bumpers - whicharethe originals withsome patina here and there. I believe the badges and door handles might have been replaced with brand new ones during the restoration because they look perfect, but this is hard for me to know for sure. However,I do know this, I’ve opened and closed a lot of old car doors, hoods and trunks in my lifetime, and one thing I noticed on this car is howthe doors, hood and trunk all open and shut like new – and you get that special ‘tight solid shut’ you feel right away.
The VIN tag, buck tag, door tag and axle tag are all still in place. See the attached Marti report for factory details.
I have a clean title signed/datedfrom the previous ownerwhich I will give to the winning bidder, along with a bill of sale if needed.Or, if you'd like, I can havethe car re-titled inmy name and send it to youin a few weeks for an additional $750 fee (because I have to pay fees/taxes to re-title).
Please do not hesitate to ask questions and the car is also available for inspection.Call me with any questions you have at 805-236-0210, or Email via Ebay.
Car is located in my temperature-controlled garage in Cumming, GA 30028
