US 1952 Ford F1 Pickup Truck Frame Off Built F1 Pickup 5. 8L Lightning V8 4 Speed Auto with A/C Year: 1952 Type of vehicle title: Clear Primary color: Burgundy Mileage: 4506 Transmission type: 4 Speed Automatic Engine: 5. 8 Liter Lightning V8 Interior color: Tan Vehicle info For every hot rod. there's a trend. For every trend. there are admirers. And for every admirer. there's a dilution of the hot rod that created the trend in the first place. But every once in a while a trend is so powerful it not only becomes the standard for what's cool with a particular model. it also sets a baseline for that model's respective fans. Need some examples? We all know you can't build a serious Willys without a tubbed rear end. And we also know you can't build a Ford coupe without shaved door handles. Like it or not. these are just unspoken facts of gearhead life. With its square proportions and simple form. the beloved Ford F1 is certainly a standard in the street rod world. And the baseline for notable F1 builds is a solid. all-steel body. a small Ford V8 and comparatively upscale trim. The question then becomes: what happens when someone meets the baseline and throws in a couple of great ideas for good measure? You get a fully-sorted custom like this awesome '52 Ford! Whether you're a diehard Ford fan. an old school truck lover. or just a curious buyer who's looking for a well-done cruiser. this striking pickup hits like a lightning bolt on a clear summer day!Sporting a somewhat pontoon design and classic good looks. the father of Ford's legendary F-Series has always been a highly desirable line of trucks. And not surprisingly. gearheads. customizers and 65 years' worth of fans have elevated it to one of hot rodding's greatest cultural icons. With the help of a 2009. frame-off restoration. this first generation pickup was transformed into a smooth-driving cruiser. That restoration began with an almost mandatory replacement of floorpans and cab corners. Once that new metal was married to authentic Dearborn steel. the truck's smooth fuselage was sealed in DuPont Razzlin' Red 2-stage. And today. this classy hot rod is one sizzling classic that looks cooler than pretty much every car at any show its owner chooses to attend! As expected. this awesome Ford's first rate detailing highlights both its solid form and stunning paint. At the front of the truck. a "V8" branded hood rides above bold "F O R D" lettering. an aerodynamic grille and a simple chrome bumper. At the sides of that grille. sculpted fenders center pristine. chrome-trimmed headlights in front of twisting door handles and color-keyed. Ford-branded running boards. Above those boards. a 'Five Star Cab' rides between a chrome-trimmed. "F-1 LIGHTNING" branded hood. a gorgeous Walnut bed and simple. body-matched mirrors. And. at the back of that bed. a "Ford" branded tail gate hangs above "Ford" branded tail lights and a second chrome bumper. Ever heard of someone telling you one story so they can tell you another? Well. that's exactly what's happening here. When Ford debuted the ninth generation F-Series. they finally got serious about a performance lifestyle offering. By that time. Chevy's hot 454 SS had been burning up the street for several years and Ford. in typical Big Three fashion. couldn't resist the opportunity to compete. Now for the second story: this classy cruiser is powered by a 5. 8 liter Lightning V8 that creates a healthy 240 horsepower. Roughly the truck equivalent to an early '90s Cobra motor. this mill makes good use of GT40 heads. a high performance intake. a hotter cam. better pistons. free-breathing headers. a beefy oil cooler and modified computer programming. Envisioned more as a comfortable cruiser than a flat-out street rod. this F1 doesn't pretend to be a drag strip conqueror. That said; acceleration is still very respectable. and the truck's silky smooth powerplant delivers enough grunt to provide fun and responsive driving characteristics. Aesthetically. most of the engine is well-hidden under an attractive Lightning intake and Ford Racing valve covers. Ancillaries appear well-matched to the mill. with loomed Hi-Temp Super Stock wires and a fender-mounted air intake framing a big aluminum radiator and quick. electric puller fan. And. with a turn of the key. the cylinders settle into a restrained hum of power. Every good hot rod has a solid foundation. Flip this Ford upside down and you'll find a roster of mechanical improvements that mix classic looks with modern mobility. Behind the Windsor. a 4-speed automatic transmission spins likable. road-ready gears. Beneath that drivetrain. a thoroughly rebuilt suspension employs power rack-and-pinion steering. Power front disc and rear drum brakes are a welcome addition and big performance upgrade for early Ford fans. There's an impressive dual exhaust system that employs an X-pipe crossover and dual-chamber Thrush mufflers. Everything rides on a set of 15-inch painted. pinstriped and trimmed wheels. which spin 235/70 Kelly Chargers in front of 255/70 Kelly Chargers. And items like stainless fluid lines. a powdercoated chassis and a big stainless fuel tank finish an otherwise impressive canvas. 1-part vintage and 1-part modern. this pickup's warm and welcoming interior looks straight out of an old school Hot Rod magazine. At the front of the cockpit. a stainless-trimmed. Razzlin' Red dash centers an Alpine CD player between modern air conditioning and clear Classic Instruments gauges. In front of that dash. an "F-1 LIGHTNING" branded seat seems appropriate to the feel of the truck's restoration. At the bottom of that seat. Dynamat insulation anchors premium carpet under a wood console and billet foot pedals. Opposite that carpet. a fresh-looking headliner flows toward a rear-mounted Alpine subwoofer. At the sides of the passengers. body-matched doors features power windows. power locks and traditional chrome handles. And in front of the driver. a leather-wrapped. banjo-style steering wheel spins around a tilting Flaming River column. The sale of this American original includes restoration photos. restoration receipts and a small stack of component manuals. Whether it's simple nostalgia or their long list of extremely useful design virtues. one thing is certain: trucks NEVER go out of style.
