Description for Ford Thunderbird 1962

This exquisite and very rare M-Code Tri-Power 1962 Ford Thunderbird Sports Roadster is beautifully finished in Red with a Red interior. a 390hp/345lb-ft of torque V8 engine and backed by an automatic transmission. This is one of only 1,427 Roadsters built! It features a cast-aluminum intake, dual exhaust, and the Sports Roadster Package. It is absolutely one of the nicest in existence. The 1962 Thunderbird features a top mechanism that is mesmerizing. Pushing a single switch--located... on the door panel--instantly sets the progress in motion. After all is said and done, the convertible top completely disappears beneath the trunk lid. Capable of changing from a sleek, sporty two-passenger convertible to a four-passenger convertible in a matter of minutes, it also has the ability to have the top up or down with or without the fiberglass tonneau cover in place. Combined with the fiberglass tonneau cover, the '62 T-Bird featured the longest rear deck in the industry. Reminiscent of a spaceship's cockpit, the T-Bird's dash wraps around driver and passenger; a curved console, clad with anodized aluminum smoothly merges with the dashboard. The third generation of the Ford Thunderbird, 1961 to 1963 model years, featured new and much sleeker styling than preceding models. The Thunderbird for 1961 introduced several firsts for the automotive market. The most distinctive feature of the 1961 to 1963 Thunderbirds was the highly touted 'Swing Away' steering wheel. With the transmission in the park position, the steering wheel would slide approximately 18" to allow the driver to exit the vehicle more easily. Other innovations include a floating rear view mirror. Common on all autos produced today, this feature was first found on 1961 Thunderbirds. Several standard features, like power steering and power brakes, back up lights and bucket seats were costly options on most other autos. There's never been anything else quite like them. Back in the day, the Thunderbird Sports Roadster was a sensation. Its spaceship theme beautifully executed throughout, it looked like it had just escaped from a science fiction magazine. Today, our senses are bedazzled by automobile creations attempting to crossover in as many directions as possible.
