Description for Ford Thunderbird 1955
This clean 1955 Thunderbird is ready for cruising and general enjoyment. Solid, rust-free bones make it an ideal candidate for concourse restoration or just let it be and drive it in good weather for years to come. Some like to say "you either own your collector car...or it owns you". This 1955 Baby Bird is a solid "driver quality" example that will set its owner free from the hassle of fearing stone chips on the open road or getting caught in a rain storm and staining a perfectly restored undercarriage. The Snowshoe White paint is a re-spray from years past but still looks great. There are a few small bubbles and overspray showing in the lower doors but I checked the area with a refrigerator magnet and any filler repair is minimal, the magnet detected metal within an inch of the bubble areas. I inspected the areas inside the front fenders and rear quarter panels with a magnet and they are straight, solid and show no signs of accident or rust repair. And as you will see from the frame pictures, the frame and floors are in excellent, rust-free condition. The trunk floors are also in great condition. Please look over every picture and you'll agree this is a very solid car. I did drive the car for about 25 miles and it didn't overheat or stall. The factory non-assist 11-inch drum brakes work well with a firm push on the pedal and the wide-whitewall radial tires ride like a modern car but with a nostalgic touch. The 292 Y-block is stock except for a 12-volt charging system upgrade. I am selling this car for the widow of its former owner. She loves the car but cannot drive it since it lacks power brakes. If you have any questions, feel free to call Steve Magnante at 508-637-1514. This is a nice, solid T-bird, the First of the Breed! The car is located in central, MA and can be either driven home by the winning bidder or, thanks to the fact Intercity Lines antique auto shippers is close by, it can be picked up and shipped by Intercity.
